| We were told 10 days after 5/4 administration, but maybe that was just wrong? Any update on those scores for 9th graders? |
| We were never told when the scores would come. But our school just did the test last week so maybe it’s 10 days after the testing window closes? |
| The testing window runs until 5/29 |
| Why does it matter? |
Because it is 20% of the fourth quarter grade? |
*For kids currently enrolled in biology |
Oh so it’s 10 days after the testing window closes? Why did our school give the test oj may 4 if the window runs until May 29? Wouldn’t the extra few weeks of school be helpful to the kids taking the test? |
| My kid told me they got them back (scaled/curved to be out of 100), but I don’t see them posted anywhere. |
| They have been calculated but I don't think they have been announced. I was talking with a counselor at my school today about next years schedule for a kid on my caseload and she informed me that he failed Bio 2nd semester because of his MISA score. Kid has a D in Synergy but that will be dropping to a E because of the MISA |
|
From anyone with past experience, what does the curve look like? For example, if percentage is 90 before curve, any experience of what that might look like after the curve.
Kid is on the edge of 2 grades and MISA probably ends up being deciding factor given its heavy weighting. |
| My DD's teacher gave her the score. She got 100! She did not feel confident at all... |
I don’t think they gave percentages last year. They just gave A or B or whatever and they had a chart that told you how it would work out your semester grade. This year they gave percentages. |
I assume it's because this year they calculate numerical averages for the semester vs A+A=A, A+B=A, A+C=B etc. I think MISA is 20% of the semester grade for Bio, not just the Q4 grade, right? |
Correct. Q3 is 40 percent, W4 is 40 percent and Misa is 20 percent of the semester grade. |
Level mid-3 (Proficient)'to 4 (Advanced) is an A Level mid-2 (Developing) through mid-3 (Proficient) is a B. Lower level 2 is C or D. Level 1 is E/F It looks pretty generous on The surface, but the exam is a wild card and the scoring system is secret. |
