| Gotta love the news. Hantavirus scare seems to have died out so now they need their next "omg disease!" |
Fine, you pay for it. Go ahead, put your money where your mouth is. |
I suspect most Americans would rather their tax dollars pay for disease control that keeps them safe than Trump’s billion dollar ballroom, his brand new Qatari jet and his billion dollar slush fund to reward his supporters who were “wronged” by the government who had the audacity to insist they pay their taxes and not destroy the Capitol building and kill Capitol police officers. |
+1 We should be paying for the health programs that have existed for decades. Happy to have my tax dollars go there. Instead doge gutted the Ebola task force at no net savings and as PP posted, our tax dollars are going to corrupt and horrible expenditures. I’d add to the above list hiding Israel’s wishes in Iran. |
Change of plans.

Ballroom is a one time expense. We have been paying for disease control in other countries for 50 years with no end in sight. |
No it's not. Its.elextrocitt, sewer updates, renovations, burst pipes, new silverware, linens, maintenance people , lighting and sound system updates, IT, etc not to mention the bunker underneath. Hmmmm opulent unnecessary ballroom or keeping other humans alive and limiting the spread of endemic disease outbreaks. There's stupid vapid selfish and then there's self preservation selfish. I'm happy to be the latter. |
Actually the alert systems worked in that earlier outbreak. We are way behind the 8 ball here with much less info about the scope of the issue. The USG stepped out and no one filled the vacuum. |
No visa-based travel from those countries either. Lockdown starting and we have to hope it’s not too late. |
Don't forget his slush fund for insurrectionists. Millions of people will die due to the USAID cuts and it demonstrateably makes Americans less safe from disease outbreaks. I'm actually much more concerned about drug resistance and TB long term than I am Ebola, but this demonstrates why global public health matters. Disease does not know borders and the whole knee-jerk response to shut down travel isn't a viable long term strategy. |
They should have enforced a lockdown much sooner in terms of travel bans. |
If it's a global issue why does it require a uniquely US response? Where are all the other countries that are so much better than we are, are they helping? |
The last time we had an Ebola scare the Lightbringer was in charge and he refused to do any sort of travel ban from the Fatherland. And everyone was a-ok with that decision even when Ebola patients were vomiting on American sidewalks. |
Fighting over who should pay while millions die is a fantastic strategy. The US learned a long time ago there was a huge amount of power in reputation and soft power. It kept us strong throughout the world. Trump killed that quite quickly |
Airplane bathroom? Travel bans don’t work. They are just for show. |
