We should be paying for the health programs that have existed for decades. Happy to have my tax dollars go there. Instead doge gutted the Ebola task force at no net savings and as PP posted, our tax dollars are going to corrupt and horrible expenditures. I’d add to the above list hiding Israel’s wishes in Iran.

The U.S. government has ordered all U.S.-bound flights from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda, and South Sudan to land only at Washington–Dulles International Airport for enhanced Ebola screening following a rapidly spreading outbreak.

Ballroom is a one time expense. We have been paying for disease control in other countries for 50 years with no end in sight.

No it's not. Its.elextrocitt, sewer updates, renovations, burst pipes, new silverware, linens, maintenance people , lighting and sound system updates, IT, etc not to mention the bunker underneath.

Millions of people will die due to the USAID cuts and it demonstrateably makes Americans less safe from disease outbreaks.

I'm actually much more concerned about drug resistance and TB long term than I am Ebola, but this demonstrates why global public health matters. Disease does not know borders and the whole knee-jerk response to shut down travel isn't a viable long term strategy.

The last time we had an Ebola scare the Lightbringer was in charge and he refused to do any sort of travel ban from the Fatherland. And everyone was a-ok with that decision even when Ebola patients were vomiting on American sidewalks.

Fighting over who should pay while millions die is a fantastic strategy.

The US learned a long time ago there was a huge amount of power in reputation and soft power. It kept us strong throughout the world. Trump killed that quite quickly
