| Please don't listen to the people saying to go into a severe deficit. So much research coming out about how that doesn't work, especially long-term, and just wrecks your metabolism. It sounds like you are eating well. I might look at your protein and making sure you are getting enough. I have similar stats to you and found that the months that I tracked AND hit 10k steps daily on average, were the months that I lost weight. Strength training is so good for you, continue to do that. But increase your steps. And, give it time! You're doing great work! |
|
Also, and I'm sorry to say this...you may be hitting perimenopause, where everything changes.

Yes lol 1400 cal is solid gaining territory for me now. and I ate 2400 cal/ day throughout my teens, 20s and 30s and stayed at 112lb. |

Honestly OP, I would get a second opinion from a different doctor. Going on the blood pressure medication may help you lose weight.
But also track what you eat and make sure you're exercising regularly. Don't go super low calorie wise, but use something like the Lose it app to make sure that you are eating a balanced diet - plenty of protein and fiber, less saturated fat. |

I would try to lose 10 lbs before starting BP meds. BP meds are t totally benign (as most long term meds aren’t) and they do have side effects. Why go on them if you could potentially avoid with losing 10 lbs? While maybe it won’t help, maybe it will. You surely will feel a lot better with 10 lbs off. I’m guess it is “borderline” and not actually high, or just barely considered high. You can do this.
Try cutting calories to 1500 and add cardio at least 3 days per week in addition to weight training. Regular cardio also helps to decrease blood pressure. |
Not really. BP meds often make people feel tired and sluggish and some prevent your HR from going high enough to get in decent cardio workout. |
you got me! though I know average around 26k and I eat around 1500 most days probably. the other day someone asked me if I have a boyfriend?

I'm super fit at 5'3 and 109 pounds with muscles. I'm on blood pressure meds. It's not something I can control. It's not a moral failing. |
Do you walk around all day for work? Do you not work, and just walk around all of the day? Who has time for this? |
yes I do work full time but I have pretty flexible schedule (academic job). it's about 3 hours per day and use a portion of it for calls. |
Dont listen to this, whatever you do OP. Terrible advice. |
Yeah it’s the same lady who made a whole post about how much weight she lost eating 700 calories and walking a totally unsustainable (for normal people) amount every day. She claims her “doctor” thought it was fine and supported it. Fiction. She has an eating disorder and seems to want everyone else to have one too. Surprise, you lose a bunch of weight when you only eat 700 calories because you are starving yourself. |
Vast majority of people don’t have 3+ hrs per day to dedicate to walking |
| Good luck. I am 5’6” and would love to weigh 152. |
Right, this is not unhealthy. |
