What does Percocet feel like? (Oral surgery related)

I took it for over a week for TKR and never felt high.

Disagree. Do not take until the OTC meds are not working. I have gone through multiple surgeries with no prescription paid meds.

It gives me a raging headache and I itch all over (not to mention the constipation). I would rather alternate with Tylenol and Motrin.

Take it before bed. It'll let you sleep. Sleep = healing. I felt happily high.

It made me loopy. I didn’t like it but it numbed the pain after surgery and I regretted it when I stopped too early.

It very much depends on the person though. My sister gets really high from it and really likes the feeling. Fortunately she’s not the sort of person to be drug-seeking, but if she were, she’d pursue that one. It’s very strange to me that we react so differently to the same drug.

This is my preference, especially because percocet causes constipation.

Percocet is very dose dependent. A lesser dose might take the edge off the pain and no more, and a higher dose might make you high as a kite. I remember being prescribed 2 pills per dose and settling for 1.5 on the worst days. Don’t double up on Tylenol!

Even 1 single tablet is enough to constipate me. Get your senna ready (Colace is worthless - it’s proven now) and don’t take it any longer than you have to. When Advil gets the job done, you stop.

It is a narcotic. I try to minimize/avoid narcotics. Definitely start with Tylenol or similar.

Exactly this about the one v. two pills. Overall I really enjoy it and occasionally pop one leftover from a surgery years ago.

It made me super sleepy within about 45 mins of taking it. I took some after my c-section but I had to time it for right after the baby fell asleep because I was going to fall asleep too. It works on pretty intense pain.

I had a recent surgery and only had to resort to oxy about 5 times over 2 weeks. I used Tylenol and ibuprofen around the clock but when my pain level went to 8 level I would add the oxy 2.5 mg (I cut the 5 mg tab in two) within 15 minutes the pain would subside and I’d fall asleep.

Everyone is different when I take it I feel like I can't think clearly and everything is fuzzy. I absolutely hate it.

This is key.
DD hates the fuzzy and won't take more than necessary first day. We cut in half. (she has had lots of surgeries).
I love it but get off it quick because constipation freaks me out. (I have had only two surgeries).
My mother gets nauseated and also takes it only first day and then moves onto otc meds (two hip surgeries).

So key is to see for you if it helps pain and then get off it right quick.
If it helps with pain everyone needs to stop treating it like the antichrist. It's a helpful med FFS that gets people through the worst of invasive surgeries. I don't know why people worship pain these days.

OP here. So far the ibuprofen is working fine - I haven't needed to take a single percocet. I'm not against pain meds if truly needed, but at 3 days later, I'm over the worst of it. I'm trying to stretch out my 800mg dose a little longer as the aches are still very much there, but slowly subsiding. That was a lot of trauma for my mouth in one day!

There's probably be another time in my life where I may need something stronger though...

I never throw up, but Percocet made me vomit. I’m not sure I even had it in me long enough for pain relief.

I’m getting a tooth implant soon and the oral surgeon said to take both ibuprofen and acetaminophen at the same time. I hadn’t heard that before.
