What does Percocet feel like? (Oral surgery related)

Anonymous
I just had a tooth pulled, implant post and graft done all at once.

I’ll start with the 800mg ibuprofen, but he prescribed percocet in case I needed it. I’ve never taken it, or anything similar. What is it going to feel like? In general I don’t have an addictive personality. i’m nervous to take it, but if it’s going to hurt like a mofo… I may.

For me it just put me to sleep. Follow guidelines about not driving or doing other important things when you are on it.

I've never had an implant done but I've had two root canals and done fine with ibuprofen. One thing they tell you to do is "get ahead of the pain." With surgery, you know you'll be in pain, so take the full dose of prescribed meds on time regardless of whether it hurts, and keep it up. This can prevent having to take a stronger medication.

That said, if you are in pain, take the Percocet! Then go rest -- rest will also help with recovery and pain. I also recommend storing up some dumb entertainment -- normally I read or watch somewhat challenging TV or podcasts to relax. When recovering from surgery, I cannot do this. I need to watch like Love Island until I pass out. Just something that will smooth my brain right out.

Nothing really. Tired and a little loopy when you stand up. Ask for a prescription for Zofran though in case it makes you nauseated.

It makes me feel loopy/a little dizzy and nauseous. So no thanks.

It made me feel very sleepy and numbed the pain. Take the painkiller if you need it.

I don't have addictive tendencies, I only needed it for a few days.

I just feel a bit groggy with it.

I also don’t use it; after a few surgeries I’ve learned that ibuprofen works better for me anyway.

Oh, and beware the constipation side effect. If you are going to take a narcotic, take a stool softener along with it.

It either made me sleepy or groggy in that head fuzzy way. Wasn't a huge fan but it was better than the pain.

My 80 year old dad did this 5x recently and never took anything more than tylenol. Don't take it.

I get euphoric on opioids. Dreamy and very happy. It relieves my psychic pain (anxiety, stress, guilt, and all the rest) as well as physical pain. I'm well aware of my risk for addiction so mostly avoid them.

Nothing remarkable unless maybe you have a very high dose. Have taken after surgery.

I've had multiple oral surgeries due to jaw problems and I absolutely hate percocet and have chosen to white knuckle pain over it.

Everyone is different when I take it I feel like I can't think clearly and everything is fuzzy. I absolutely hate it.

It gives me brain fog and makes me feel itchy all over. Not a fan.

Take it. At least day of and next day. It hurts like a mofo. And take a Miralax powder day before and day of and daily while taking
I took it for over a week for TKR and never felt high.

You won't need it alternate Tylenol and Advil every 4 hours instead.
