It really is not. I was 41 when my first was born. I saw a high-risk MFM OB--not because of my age but because of a prior major abdominal surgery. At one appointment, the provider had a printed sheet of who they would see that day with ages listed. I was the oldest by quite a bit and I asked how my risk compared with those of others seen in the same clinic. The OB said "You are the lowest-risk person we're seeing here today."

I hope that's made up because otherwise that's a huge violation of patient privacy.

Unless she saw the actual names of the patients, no it is not. You are allowed to speak in general terms like that about patients.

I believe she is entitled to her happiness; I think she was separated when her husband died.

As someone who also had a former partner end his life, I wish others were not so judgmental. The one who ends their life chose to do so, and it leaves their former partner in a horrible position.

I have all the empathy for her.

I sincerely doubt that baby was a surprise. Very few people are able to get and stay pregnant with first child at 40+ without medical intervention.

I had my first at 41, second at 44. Very much wanted, but no medical intervention for either.

In studies of societies without birth control, the average age of women having their last child was 41. So half of women had a child after 40. We don’t see it as often because most women today use birth control to avoid later pregnancies.

My guess is her husband had mental health issues and Aubrey suffered living alongside those for years. I hope she’s found happiness, as she’s likely had a very difficult path.

I agree with this. They had been together since 2011. The marriage may have ended several years before they formally separated because of his mental health concerns.

We will never know the full story and I’m okay with that. I’m sorry that she’s been through what she’s been through and I’m really sorry for Jeff’s family but if she moves on and has a new partner and a baby just feels weird for that to take up any negative space in my life.

That is... not at all true. At 40, most women can get pregnant without an intervention. And most of those pregnancies will result in a healthy baby.
