Not really. It's still overwhelmingly likely a 41 year old woman will have a healthy child. Things get a lot different around 44/5, I'll give you that. |

It really is not. I was 41 when my first was born. I saw a high-risk MFM OB--not because of my age but because of a prior major abdominal surgery. At one appointment, the provider had a printed sheet of who they would see that day with ages listed. I was the oldest by quite a bit and I asked how my risk compared with those of others seen in the same clinic. The OB said "You are the lowest-risk person we're seeing here today." |
