| Separate wait lists for different parts of VT. Ag has a completely separate admissions pool from Eng, as an example. |
| So the waitlist goes on till Nuly? |
| July |
| Agree about seeing a lot more VT decisions on the schools IG-was more than in the past at this time of year |
Not sure where you're getting that, but okaaay... |
| I heard someone is not accepting because they didn't get much $. Maybe your are next to be called from wait-list in May? |
Doesn’t work like that. They accept a certain number over for yield - knowing a good percentage will not accept. UVA is typically 9000 ish admits for 3900 spots. VT probably somewhere similar ratio. The WL comes into play when they don’t meet that overall goal or if certain majors/ programs don’t. |
Agree. And to be more specific: UVA's yield is historically around 40% (much higher instate) and Tech's is in the low 20-25%. They assume 75-80% will say no. Typically they will have multiple waitlists - in-state and out-of-state for each of the different schools/colleges - and will go the different wait-list as needed to complete the class. |
