Rumor is back to Texas, the shining beacon of public education.

Completely forgot the Region 4 guy is also from Texas. Add him to the Texas list too then. How does this not bother the rest of her leadership team to have so many people infiltrating from Texas? Very bizarre and suspect hiring practice indeed.

This is the 4th or 5th executive admin she has hired from Houston Independent School which was recently overhauled by the state because the poor performance and failures in Texas. Now, two of our assistant superintendents are running two regions of our county. The other two are our Chief Human Resource Officer and our Chief of Schools. We wonder why Fairfax is going downhill, you don’t have to look too far. What agreement does she have with Houston, I don’t believe she has ever worked there?

Maybe, because it is an extremely large school district?

Odd choice, though.

If they want to be principals, prove themselves and then be given the cushion job of central office I am okay. But to promote them to be advisors of our school/principals is major issue when they don’t even have a previous job in that role.

Reid has hired way too many poor education outside of FCPS in critical roles and it’s costing us.
It's not like she was flown across the country for the role of Superintendent.

Yes, I know some are leaving and some are coming soon. At one point, 4/7 of school leadership (chief of schools + 3/6 region superintendents) will be from Texas.

Look at that, Houston school district goes downhill and we hire them and they tank our district imagine that. These people and their ideas have got to go. I feel bad for the third district to hire them in an even hire role.

Don’t forget Chief HR Officer too.

I assume Geovanny Ponce is why FCPS has a full employment program for Houston ISD staff.

Oh my the list grows! Went from a laughable joke/coincidence to something that should seriously be asked about.

He's leaving end of this SY for Champaign, IL as their new superindendent.
Would love to know what his staff at Gatehouse think of his departure.

New Chief of Schools was announced today:
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is proud to announce the appointment of Megan Vroman as the new chief of schools. Ms. Vroman, who currently serves as the assistant superintendent of Region 2, brings a wealth of experience, a strategic vision for student success, and a proven track record of instructional excellence to this critical executive leadership role.

No one will miss him. No one.

Principals like Ms. Vroman. She’s smart and doesn’t have an ego that gets in the way of doing good work. Hopefully she can push back against the superintendent in this new role. Everything feels very top-down and at the whim of Reid. Some healthy pushback and collaboration at Gatehouse would go a long way.

Unfortunately everyone has learned not to push back against Reid because that will get you pushed out. She argues like a petulant child and gets what she wants. Everyone in leadership is afraid of her or at least afraid of speaking up.
