Being judged for being Christian

If Jesus is important to you, fine. Just don’t tell me about it.

Then OP isn't very bright, unfortunately. Anyone in America right now should be fully aware that people associate Christianity with the very loud, very obnoxious Christian Nationalists that have taken over the GOP. They call themselves Christians while actually behaving and espousing beliefs that are the very antithesis of Christ's teachings. They are hateful hypocrites who wield their Christian beliefs like a sword (maybe gun is more appropriate) instead of ministering to their fellow human beings with mercy and kindness.

I have never stopped being a Christian, but I'm quiet about it. You just live it and hope it has a positive impact on those around you. Who would want to be associated with the horrible Christian Nationalists right now?

I find it astounding that being Christian/Christianity are fair game for criticism & ridicule. I feel vastly more judged for my religion now than I did when I was doing things like sleeping around, doing hard drugs, being dishonest, getting a divorce, acting dishonorably etc. I find it insane!

As a Muslim, I totally get you. Do what's good for your mental and spiritual health and be good to others. No need to worry about other people's opinions, that's none of your business.

I’m pretty sure you’re OK if no one is putting you on trial for being a witch, or stoning you for being the “wrong” religion, or waging a war on your entire nation. I’m pretty sure you can handle it.

I’m a Christian, and I can’t believe you have zero reflection on the FACT that Christianity taking over nations and cultures led to genocide, colonization, murder and the subjugation of women. It’s time to step away from the pity party and reflect, OP.

Please, I can match your persecution done in the name of Christianity with persecution done in the name of other religions or philosophies one by one. (And many more people have died in the name of Marxism, for example.) Your knowledge of world history is limited if you think genocide, colonization, murder and the subjugation of women are Christian inventions or . And all of your rants are immaterial to a guy in American culture experiencing social stigma for his Christianity.

Why do you come to a forum discussing religion and tell people you don’t want to hear about religion?

DP. Because it's a specific answer regarding the OP's question. I'm Christian but I don't want to talk about it with co-workers, acquaintances or strangers but I have no prejudice against them.

I think a lot of people who feel newly strong in their faith tend to talk about it to others who may or may not want to hear about it and she may perceive that as prejudicial when it's not intended to be. I will cut off a religious conversation if someone starts one with me.

The culture is culturally Christian at the very least. Christmas is a federal holiday. Most people are NOT prejudiced against Christians. I find it preposterous when people say this. They are looking for conflict.

People who say this also tend to be people who believe there is only one way to be a Christian, whatever that sect is. Try ecumenical thinking, OP.

That’s great, but I was asking the pp who
posted that they don’t want anyone to talk about Jesus to them why they would come to a religious forum where people are talking about Jesus?

They are making a choice to do something they don’t want? Why would they do that?

You know there's a "recent posts" forum, right? No one has to click on the "Religion" forum to see posts on religion.

So when you see the post on recent so you decide to come to the forum that talks about Jesus, even though you don’t want people to talk about Jesus to you?
