HS graduation at 6pm at UMBC? What about dinner?

I don't want to eat dinner at 9:30/10pm. Very unhealthy.

It's not just me. I can always take a snack, but the kids can't. They have to get there an hour earlier (I believe). And given that this is peak traffic time, they have to leave here by 4. It's the kids I'm worried about most.

"Kids"? You mean the 18yo who are going off to college? Have them put a protein bar in their pocket/purse. They will not die from hunger.

I didn't think they were allowed to take a purse, or a water bottle.

My kid gets a headache if they get hungry, or dehydrated, which can turn into nausea.

If they can take a purse/water bottle, yes, that would solve the problem.

Pockets?

I would do a big and late lunch and then go out for dessert afterwards. Congrats!

So eat dinner in the afternoon. It’s one day.

You sound very rigid.

Wherever they are stashing their phone, stash a snack!!

OP, you sound absolutely ridiculous.

They bring snacks and disposable water bottles and ditch them when absolutely forced to by the staff onsite. Seems like the only solution, right? That's what pockets and purses are for.

One of ours had an early evening graduation. We just ate a big meal late afternoon. Their school sponsors an all night grad party so they had plenty to eat throughout the night after graduation if they wanted it.

It’s one night. Truly not a big deal to change up the routine.

None of us want to, but you've got to understand that reservations for graduations are made months in advance, the schedule is jam packed with schools at all venues in the region, and THERE IS NO WAY THE TIME IS GOING TO CHANGE. I'm surprised you cannot grasp this simple fact. It's suboptimal, to say the least, but that's how it's going to be. Snacks and water bottle in the car.

Dehydrated. At a graduation. FFS.

I beg you please do not discuss this with anyone in real life because you sound like an absolute boomer Karen.

Demand your child not attend. The whole family skips due to this profound inconvenience! Dinner at 6, bed by 9 and never look back.

It will be just like all the 2020 HS graduations!!
