HS SAT Day Wednesday

The admin will informally tell you via their teachers not to come, but they can't put that in writing because then they'd get in trouble with the BOE and the state. You have to learn to read between the lines.

Walter Johnson HS: Students who come in the morning will be sent to the Media Center or Cafeteria for quiet study. Best to come at noon. Fifteen minute classes, periods 1-7, begin at 12:15.

At Blake students will be doing a career focused lesson asynchronously. In other words, some video will be playing on the Boxlights that many students will ignore- but some may do!

At Northwood some AP teachers are doing reviews to get their classes caught up for the tests. Between SAT day and WIDA testing, kids will mostly make up for the snow days.

Interesting to consider how this day would be counted under the instructional hours vs. days calculation. Would this be 6 instructional hours even though there's nothing for non-juniors to do in the morning?

Drove by B-CC and it looked like school was closed. Parking lot was empty.

Yes. And there are other days like this--PSAT was the same. Some MISA testing days. On AP days, the kids taking APs don't need to attend the half the day they'r enot in class. . Technically, at least some % of students need to be present for it to count as a schoolday but I've never heard that mentioned as a constraint. It may be why they often don't take attendance in the classes that meet on this day, though. (I've checked on some prior days and my kid wasn't marked absent when they didn't attend the class sessions in the afternoon.)

Yes. MD allows states to count all school time toward instructional hours. That includes testing, transitions, and lunch.
