Is this Trump's Benghazi?

I'm French. We have a lot of expats there, and French nationals with dual citizenships and family ties. It's a complete mess. There's no way we can evacuate everyone who wants to leave in a short amount of time. 400K people.
French TV is full of videos of French tourists stranded in Dubai, bemoaning the rising cost of flights and hotel rooms. Someone who managed to return was interviewed at a French airport and said that it was a game of "seize the ticket": he was monitoring flight prices on his phone, and prices kept jumping thousands of dollars every few minutes. Super stressful.

I was no Hillary fan but to blame her for Benghazi was a sad and disgusting action that weakened this country.

Made up? I assure you it occured and Susan Rice was the one responsible for it.

In contrast, the following governments are taking active measures to evacuate their own citizens:

- Russia: Organizing emergency aircraft and commercial repatriation flights; ~1,000 already returned from UAE/Abu Dhabi and Muscat, with ~4,500 more expected soon via multiple flights from UAE and Oman.

- Germany: Chartering taxpayer-funded flights to evacuate vulnerable citizens (e.g., ill, children, pregnant) from Saudi Arabia and Oman; plans underway for broader efforts amid ~30,000 stranded.

- United Kingdom: Planning government-chartered flights (e.g., via British Airways) to repatriate citizens from Oman and other Gulf areas.

- France: Facilitating evacuation of vulnerable nationals (~400,000 in affected Gulf countries); starting operations for high-risk groups.

- Spain: Organizing evacuation flights; at least one from Abu Dhabi (carrying Spaniards) landed in Madrid, with more expected via Istanbul and other routes.

- Greece: Setting up plans to repatriate thousands, though complicated by airspace closures.

- Japan: Organizing bus evacuations from Israel (e.g., to Jordan/Amman; at least one bus departed Tel Aviv with nationals); ready to dispatch Self-Defense Forces if needed; monitoring ~1,000 in Israel and ~200 in Iran.

- Other EU nations (e.g., Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland): Coordinating repatriation flights from Oman, UAE, Egypt, and Jordan (e.g., Italy from Muscat/Abu Dhabi; Bulgaria from Middle East airports; Czech via Egypt/Jordan buses).

- South Korea: Evacuating nationals (e.g., 62 from Israel by bus to Egypt); working to repatriate ~21,000 overall.

And there are no commercial flights, regardless of cost, that Americans can book. This AM, I tried to book flights to DC from DIA, DXB JED and TLV on 6 different platforms. All of them indicated that there were no flights today. No US airlines as of tomorrow. Say what you will about US '21 withdrawal from Afghanistan, the US spent six months informing US citizens to evacuate. US citizens in the Mideast were given NO time to depart, NO time.

I just called this number. You press 1 for the Middle East. The response is outrageous. The advice is effectively shelter in place and refresh your browser to see if there are any changes. Outrageous as this is a war of choice!

Clinton wasn't directly responsible for the negligence that led to American deaths in Benghazi but as Secretary of State, she had to take on some accountability for which she could have done a better job of. That circumstance isn't comparable to the deaths of American soldiers in the wake of the Iran attack.

Every single interview with an admin official must proceed as follows: "Before we discuss today's war status, please provide an update for concerned Americans on the USG efforts to repatriate Americans stranded in the region as no warning was provided for evacuation."

FWIW, I spent nearly 2 decades working on refugee issues in Africa. Those 20 years spanned Jesse Helms, then Newt and company, doing everything in their power to cut State Department funding, including for security. The GOP is responsible for Benghazi.

I am appalled. I saw the notice to leave immediately that came out last night and was asking, shouldn't this have been done a week ago? The Riyadh Embassy that got hit last night was performing routine operations earlier that same day. Could have been catastrophic with different timing. Absolutely no regard for safety of personnel over there.

They should save some breath and just say "Do not rely on the U.S. government." What a disaster.

The as*wipe cares more about his ballroom curtains than any of these "losers and suckers". I bet if he was asked to remember even ONE of their names he wouldn't be able to do it. We are all expendable in his quest for $$$ and power.
