Is this Trump's Benghazi?

Why aren't we hearing more about the circumstances in which the 6 servicemen who have died in this war were killed? They were left vulnerable to attack by Iranian drones despite higher-ups being aware that they were not sufficiently protected. Six have died so far and 18 were seriously wounded.

No Benghazi was a made up attack on Hillary Clinton. The democrats do not have anything close to Fox News, NYPost, WSJ, NYT, X, right wing influencers, etc. and the republican politicians who kept it alive.

I was no Hillary fan but to blame her for Benghazi was a sad and disgusting action that weakened this country.

The soldiers were in a TRAILER and did not receive warning or hear any sirens. How is such a deadly strike possible in this day and age when we supposedly have the best military in the world? These soldiers were literally sitting ducks.

"The source familiar said it was a direct hit just after 9 a.m. local time, on the center of the building they described as a triple-wide trailer with office space inside. The attack came quickly and with no warning or sirens to alert troops to evacuate or get into a bunker, the source said."

Further, Hegseth described the trailer as "fortified" but reports from military officials don't support that:

"Three U.S. military officials also told CBS News that the trailer was only fortified with T-walls — 12-foot-tall, steel-reinforced concrete barriers used to shield military personnel from explosions, rocket attacks and shrapnel. Such reinforcements could not protect the trailer from an overhead strike."

I don't blame Hillary either, but Benghazi was shocking because the victims were diplomats. As stupid as it was for these six to be unprotected, the deaths of service members will never be as big a story as the deaths of diplomats.

Made up? I assure you it occured and Susan Rice was the one responsible for it.

Not only did the Trump administration fail to protect the troops discussed in this thread, they’re also doing nothing beyond issuing warnings to US citizens in the Middle East to leave the area. In contrast, the following governments are taking active measures to evacuate their own citizens:

- Russia: Organizing emergency aircraft and commercial repatriation flights; ~1,000 already returned from UAE/Abu Dhabi and Muscat, with ~4,500 more expected soon via multiple flights from UAE and Oman.

- Germany: Chartering taxpayer-funded flights to evacuate vulnerable citizens (e.g., ill, children, pregnant) from Saudi Arabia and Oman; plans underway for broader efforts amid ~30,000 stranded.

- United Kingdom: Planning government-chartered flights (e.g., via British Airways) to repatriate citizens from Oman and other Gulf areas.

- France: Facilitating evacuation of vulnerable nationals (~400,000 in affected Gulf countries); starting operations for high-risk groups.

- Spain: Organizing evacuation flights; at least one from Abu Dhabi (carrying Spaniards) landed in Madrid, with more expected via Istanbul and other routes.

- Greece: Setting up plans to repatriate thousands, though complicated by airspace closures.

- Japan: Organizing bus evacuations from Israel (e.g., to Jordan/Amman; at least one bus departed Tel Aviv with nationals); ready to dispatch Self-Defense Forces if needed; monitoring ~1,000 in Israel and ~200 in Iran.

- Other EU nations (e.g., Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland): Coordinating repatriation flights from Oman, UAE, Egypt, and Jordan (e.g., Italy from Muscat/Abu Dhabi; Bulgaria from Middle East airports; Czech via Egypt/Jordan buses).

- South Korea: Evacuating nationals (e.g., 62 from Israel by bus to Egypt); working to repatriate ~21,000 overall.

The images of the US fighter jets falling from the sky with the pilots parachuting through the smoke will be this Republican administration's visual history. It is being shown over and over again on repeat around the world.

For sure. Trump has f*#ked up bigly. But it will probably be Hegseth and/or Vance that gets thrown under the bus.

And why are you surprised? The GOP has been running on destroying the civil service since Newt Gingrich. Trump put the final nail in the coffin last year.

I agree with him. As a child and a foreign service dependent, I was evacuated from a Middle East war zone about a week before the war began – – and that was almost 60 years ago. I’m absolutely livid at the casualness with which this administration treats the lives of the military, US government employees serving abroad, and Us citizens living abroad. If you’re gonna start a war, you better effing protect your own people first.

If you knew anything about the tactical situation and what happened even you would be me for yourself. Benghazi was the Republican Party undermining the US military and government. All the Republicans did was aid the enemies of the US.
