Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

Paul IV is 24,000 for Catholics and 28,000 for non-Catholics. There are $620 of other fees as well. The average class size is 17, the student to teacher ratio is 10-1. It is easy enough to google which makes me wonder where the articles author got her info from.
And I am sorry, but a drop of close to 7,000 students in a district that has 177,000 students is a decline of 0.04%, nothing shocking. |
| Reid is a modern day Nero. Hiding behind her security detail as the district collapses around her. |
| I think FCPS had over 190,000 in 2019-2020. |
| This is the same woman who wrote an article on FCPS salaries that you all debated on here a couple of weeks ago. That article was full of inaccurate data and falsehoods. I can only assume this one is as well. |
None of the data seems too surprising. The FCPS board is basically who Ezra Klein is trying to save us from. Democrats have to deliver at local levels. |
No. 188k is the max. |
Do you mean 4%? I think that drop is significant, especially in an era where we are secretly bidding for and buying new high schools. |
I am sorry, but you don't seem to know the difference between 4% and 0.04%, which is probably typically of quite a few FCPS employees and School Board members these days. |
| This isn’t a real article. This is someone’s opinion because it’s commentary. There’s no statistics or factual data to support this person’s opinion. |
It is an opinion piece, yes. They included factual data though. FCPS is absolutely blowing it. |
The decline in FCPS enrollment over a period in which APS and LCPS saw enrollment increases is a FACT. The number of FCPS schools identified by federal/state authorities as requiring intensive support is a FACT. The growth in the number of students in the state being homeschooled and the number of students in the county attending private schools is a FACT. The elimination of teaching positions in FCPS to address self-created budget issues is a FACT. The number of FCPS employees earning over $200K and Reid's high salary are FACTS. The inferences to be drawn from these FACTS are a matter of opinion, but you are incorrect when you say there are no statistics or factual data in the article. |

The decline in population was likely due to covid — once people started to work from home, people moved out of the county to places with a lower cost of living. Some people did not like virtual learning, so they moved, too.
Test scores had decreased — again, likely due to covid — but I thought they were on the upward swing last year? Also, I thought the low SOL scores had something to do with the fact that many high schoolers (those who would normally do well on the SOL) did not take the SOL because they took AP classes and such. |
We can shoot this messenger. As I said, I don’t even need to read this to know it’s going to be bullshit. Its lack of credibility is announced by the masthead. And I know you’re a Trump fan and probably creamed your jeans when he mocked a disabled reporter, but no decent person laughs at anyone with intellectual disabilities, man or child. Your equivocation here says a lot about you. Go away. |
Aren't you kind! This has nothing to do with Trump. And, if you saw the video--and I am sure you did--there was nothing to indicate that he was intellectually disabled. Just because you don't like the data, does not give you the right to condemn those who do like facts. |
DP. The phrase "you sound unhinged" was meant for posts like this. |
