Speak for yourself. I'm still friends with my best friends from high school ~30 years later. Maybe consider why no one thought it was worth it to maintain a friendship with you.

1999 we went to OC, MD and it was a very fun and very wild week.

I am still friends with the girls I went with to Beach Week 1985. Let them go.

Myrtle has been the spot since the 80's! The water is warmer, beaches are bigger, WAY more things to do that Outter banks. And no meth - heads like OC!

Op here. My kid and his friends have been besties since middle school.
I'm not paying for Myrtle or any other place, they are working PT their senior year and will pay for it themselves. (Their budget is 4K.)

I do, however, will help facilitate the rental since you have to be 25 and over to rent.

Yes, over 25 to rent, and the renter needs to be physically present at the house/condo in virtually every rental agreement. So do you plan to go with them?

Late 80’s FCPS grad here and we went to Myrtle Beach as did the classes before and after. Our kids graduated in 2016+ and their classes went to Myrtle too.

So many posts on this already. Read them to know how YOU are liable and rental agencies have all rights and DO kick the <25 YO out of house (and keep $) moment neighbors alert them to no adult- it is now well known and communicated to neighborhoods to alert the rental agencies. Ring cameras make it even easier.

Huge eye roll right back at you. You know it doesn't cost that much to go to beach week, right? And that they have the rest of the summer to work a p/t job and hang out at the pool with friends. You do you and stop judging other people because you're too uptight to let your kid enjoy ONE week at the beach with friends.

Some of these people are insufferable.

What are the typical costs for beach week? A curious parent of a younger HS

If you can’t trust your DC for a week at beach week, then college isn’t going to go very well for your DC.

We have had 3 graduates so far and didn’t allow it. We told them their adult years are for these trips. The survived and moved on. That’s just our parent preference.

For those asking about costs. My data is a bit outdated but sharing just in case it’s helpful. My 2023 grad went to OBX. There were 11 boys in the house plus one dad. Our portion of the rental was $225 (dad had his own room and we did not ask him to pay).
