Dog jumping up at me

Dog owners don't own the park.

Use pepper spray if this happens again. You are within your right to do so.

No, I wouldn't pepper-spray the dog. I would tell the owner he's an ahole and needs to control his dog. After that, I'd probably stop going to that dog park, or at least I wouldn't go if I saw that dog/owner there.

Is the park only for off leash dogs to enjoy? I’m sorry for not realizing this

Toss it like, faaaaaar far away in the other direction though.

Dog park? It’s a PARK.

Stop being in public unless you want people to commit crimes against you is a wild take, pp.

OP - pepper spray, a smack from a stick, an airhorn, and/or your boot are all appropriate measures. Use whatever works for you. If the owner didn't want their dog getting injured, they should've followed the law and leashed it.

Really?! Please don't hurt a dog just because he is ill-trained. The dog has no ill intent. He is trying to be friendly. It is annoying as hell and I would be pissed but your beef is with the owner.

Thanks for the clarification, I missed that in the OP. Well, in that case, I'd avoid that area of the park, especially if I saw that dog and owner there.

I agree with this.

Using pepper spray as a way to carry out your own personal vendettas rather than as a last resort method of self defense is reckless and ignorant. Intentionally making our world more violent and aggressive in the name of justice is perverse.

Air horn and pepper spray.

Or quitely drop a piece of chocolate wrapped in bacon... or deer poop wrapped in bacon.

Call park police. I have a few times and they were there in a few minutes.

An unleashed dog within spraying range deserves the last resort method of self-defense. Maybe it's "only" going to pounce me/my kid with muddy paws, or maybe it's going to bite me. It's not my job to give loose dogs multiple chances. It's the owner's job to control their stupid dog and make sure I'm never put in that position.

Intentionally making your unleashed, untrained animal someone else's problem by not following leash laws is the "violent and aggressive" behavior here.

This is ridiculous. Parks are for people! Dogs are supposed to be leashed!

Only if you pepper spray the owner. Dog is innocent and hasn't been taught not to jump
