Love Actually

You could go old school with Four Weddings and a Funeral, Sleepless in Seattle, Sweet Home Alabama, My Best Friend’s Wedding

Those porn-star stand-in scenes though are cringe.

Forgot about those. Nix that one from the list.

Oh, definitely The Cutting Edge, with the Olympics going on.

"Toe pick!"

Heartily seconding Ever After. No material in that movie that might make an awkward viewing experience with a parent, cute movie, strong protagonist.

Not comedic, but really sweet: Letters to Juliet

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
It Happened One Night
The Graduate (tame by today’s standards)
Out of Africa (not light, but romantic)
The Painted Veil (also not light, but romantic)

These aren't cute/funny/silly, though.

I don't think "Mrs. Robinson" is mother/daughter fun.

Painted Veil (the book) involves death, cheating, and possibly infertility.

Cutting Edge is so cute!

Mild sexual jealousy/teen hookups. Plus bratty rich girl stereotyping.

Occasionally my husband and I will bust out "Not the Pamchenko!!!"

I loved Legally Blonde.

Also, The Cutting Edge
The Proposal
Two Weeks Notice

That made me laugh. I do this with Sweet Home Alabama. "You have a baby! In a bar!"

Does Crazy Rich Asians qualify? My teen daughter isn't too old for it, but maybe it's not light enough?

I watch the last 1/3 of Crazy Rich Asians when I need a feel good movie that feels empowering. Starting with the Peik Lin telling her to not be a chicken scene.

Agree with Legally Blonde and Crazy Rich Asians.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall for a teen?

It's more about living life to the fullest, than just a rom-com, but recently watched The Last Holiday with my tween. Queen Latifah is the lead; LL Cool J is the romantic interest. Gerard Depardieu and Timothy Hutton are supporting cast. It was a little slower than I remembered, but we both enjoyed it.

My favorite: Anne of Green Gables from 1985

You’d watch the orgasm scene in When Harry Met Sally with your daughter? God no.
