| It's just us girls on Valentine's Day this year, and I'm looking for movie ideas. Preferably cute/funny/silly vs. weepy/dramatic. |
|
I thought Down With Love is really cute.
Also Say Anything. Total classic. |
|
27 dresses
13 going on 30 The Prince and me My best friends wedding The people we meet on vacation (this has some sex in it though) Something borrowed He’s just not that into you Valentine’s Day Drive me crazy She’s all that Forgetting Sarah Marshall (also some sex) Someone like you Palm Springs Americas sweethearts Crazy stupid love |
Also adding never been kissed and 10 things I hate about you to this list. 2000s were peak rom com |
| My teen's favorite movie watch with me was Overboard (the OG). Also anything with Sandra Bullock. |
|
Sorry none
Some of them set up a bad idea of what relationships are like |
|
When Harry Met Sally
The Princess Bride Some Kind of Wonderful Can’t Buy Me Love The Cutting Edge The Proposal Long Shot My favorite: Anne of Green Gables from 1985 |
There's sex in Say Anything but at the end the hero helps the heroine achieve her dreams. It's also a movie about the importance of honesty. Between gf and bf and parents and children. |
|
Leap Year
Sweet Home Alabama While You Were Sleeping |
|
A Cinderella story (the Hilary Duff version)
Love Actually You could go old school with Four Weddings and a Funeral, Sleepless in Seattle, Sweet Home Alabama, My Best Friend’s Wedding |
|
Some classic movies:
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes It Happened One Night The Graduate (tame by today’s standards) Out of Africa (not light, but romantic) The Painted Veil (also not light, but romantic) |
Yes, I guess I shouldn't have used a blanket statement. I can't really say I've seen ALL rom coms |
|
+1 for 13 Going on 30 and The Cutting Edge if you haven't seen those.
I don't know how old your teens are but I'd nix some of the other suggestions (e.g., Forgetting Sarah Marshall) that are R-rated and raunchy (even though I love them) |
Those porn-star stand-in scenes though are cringe. |
These aren't cute/funny/silly, though. |
