Delay tomorrow due to the cold emergency?

Anonymous
I'm going to be spending like the first 15 minutes in all my classes talking about the Super Bowl. I hope we start on time or else we literally won't do anything else during the short classes.

The extreme cold emergency ended this Sunday at 10am, no? Or were there two different ones? Regardless there's no reason to delay this week, for cold or snow or anything else. This weekend, despite the extreme cold, all my kids' activities were open and bustling, including the volunteer thing at my DD's high school. Parking lots and roads are clear, there was even a school bus running in front of the school, which was reassuring to see - engines sometimes seize up when it's very cold.

I don't foresee any problems on Monday morning, OP.

A delay makes sense.

Until Monday 10am

Right. There was an Extreme Cold alert for the whole day Saturday into Sunday morning, which is a very rare event. Everyone was at risk of hypothermia and frostbite yesterday is they stepped outside inadequately covered. Now it's just a cold warning, which happens every winter. Schools should not close or delay just for a cold emergency. It's more for homeless people who sleep outside that these things get activated, so teams can check on them.

They should but they won’t.

You've got the entire fall to get your kid appropriate winter gear. Temps fall below freezing EVERY winter in the DC area. There is no excuse for a delay, none.

There won’t be a delay due to the cold, but absences due to weather concerns are excused, so keep your kids home and send in a note if you feel that it’s unsafe for them to go on time.

OK OP, stop the trolling.

Cross are very bad for feet. I dont think they weew intended to be worn for the the whole day + it's just plastic.

Do you think there will be a delay?
