Why don't our daughters need to register for the selective service now when they turn 18?
I understand that in the 1940s when the rule was made that women weren't allowed to serve in combat roles, but now that restriction has been removed. Women serve in combat roles now and are thriving. So why haven't the rules changed to include females over the age of 18? It seems odd to continue to only "draft" males. |
| Male draft registration does seem antiquated in this day and age, but it is a rule. |
You don't read the news do you or are more likely trolling |
This is why we don't have the Equal Rights Act. Opponents did not want women to be drafted. |

Who doesn’t know that males have to register for the Selective Service when they turn 18?

Russian spies are not required. |
18 year old boys |
Do those 18-year-old boys have parents when they’re 17 and 364 days old who might be able to guide them, perhaps? |
My 16 year old knows all too well. He will register, but I will never let him be drafted. |
|
Y'all are we really complaining about this?
First of all, service is MANDATORY in most developed nations around the world. It's not a draft, you MUST serve. Plenty of us have loved ones that volunteered so yours only has to sign up for the draft. Call yourself thankful and move on. |
Did an 18 year old boy post the question? And those boys must have interesting parents to not understand long-standing requirements. |
Lots of boys do not have parents. Lots of boys don’t have involved parents. Lots of boys have parents who are not American citizens and didn’t have to do that. Your Bubble is very small |
I agree with you for the most part, but i am a naturalized citizen and this was one of the citizenship test questions. Most immigrants would know this perhaps even better than the native born Americans. |
No one should be forced to register. Male or female. |
