The private pool club point is wrong: Portions of CCDC, nearly all of Barnaby Woods, and all of Hawthorne are in-bounds for the Rock Creek Pool Club. The pool itself is in MoCo, but DC families in these WOTP neighborhoods and in Colonial Village are eligible for membership and are not left with the “one outdoor public pool” in “all of upper NW” as their sole pool option. |
| I lived in CCDC for 12 years. We wanted to stay there but find a bigger house (5 BR) and got outbid by 6 figures 3 times, so we moved across western to CCMD a pit 8 years ago (just north of CC Village, in one of the other incorporations). I preferred the vibe of CCDC - more 2working-parent couples, more feds, teachers, journalists, etc - educated and liberal but not super wealthy - compared to where I am now, which has more women in yoga pants and escalades, kind of a wealthier feel. CCDC felt more community-ish, we met people at Lafayette Park and the farmers market, etc. But there’s lots to like about where we are now, like much better services (got plowed quickly and consistently this storm, for ex). |
DC doesn’t have a university. Correct me if I am wrong, but DC residents qualify for in state tuition in VA and MD |
DC residents get DC TAG which gives you up to $15,000 to bridge the gap between in state and OOS tuition. UVA OOS is very expensive...so TAG bridges maybe 1/2 the gap. UMD I think is like $20 more OOS vs. In State, so it gets you 75% of the difference. I think if you earn more than like $600k then you don't qualify for TAG. |
True. But those areas are not walkable to anything, besides the Park. You are closer to things and public transportation in most of CCMD. |
| We’re in CCMD, in the Town close to Bethesda Row and walkable to Bethesda metro in 10 minutes. Love it. Houses and lots are not huge but nice sized. We walk everywhere - grocery, restaurants, metro, movie theater. |
| Bethesda--can't argue with the third best place to live in the US for quality of life. |
