Miserable people here

There are many times when I think this about people's posts. I think several of these people are basement bros and extremely unhappy, bit*chy women. I think they are miserable people in real life with no friends, so they want to make others miserable.

Why do they seem to try to pick you apart and judge you?

When I comment, I try to be helpful. If I can’t think of a helpful answer, it’s not my job to comment..why would I even want to?? I scroll on

I think a lot of people have pent up rage that they can’t release daily. Being an anonymous forum the can randomly be mean. Sometimes I just call it out - if enough people do this it would no longer be socially acceptable.

This. And I always envision them to be 300lbs, poorly mannered, and friendless.

I notice people post things here they don’t want to ask their real friends.

If they wanted to ask for everyone to see.. they wouldn’t be here

I do this, but not in a weird way.

I thought this thread was going to be a celebration of us, not an intervention.

I'm here for the snark. As long as you're miserable and clever you keep the posts churning and the ads coming!
I have no patience for the pollyannas, the ones who don't understand sarcasm, the fake naifs or the ones trying to be clever but come across clumsy and tired ("my personal chef does all that"). Keep up the acerbic wit, DCUM. The world is counting on us.

Ah yes, why can’t more posts reflect this poster’s genuine compassion and kindness? Why is it that, as PP has surmised, it’s always the overweight lonely people who are rude?

Ah DCUM, never change, never become self-aware.

For some people, being mean is fun. They don’t give it any more thought than that. Don’t be those people.

Or… this board is frequented by people who are so far up their own @$$ that it’s cathartic to put them in their place (since we can’t do it in real life).

Because some of the posts are really insane.

I suppose I might come off as mean when I see repeated posts with really dangerous medical advice. Especially advice that will harm innocent children. I get frustrated.

The vile eviscerating the clueless. Got it.

Anonymous wrote:I actually find it puzzling that people post on an anonymous forum and think everyone will be supportive. If you want to hear the answers you want to hear, ask your friends in real life.

I think there is a subset of comments that genuinely get mean and are inappropriate but a lot of times people are very directly and kindly telling the truth. I think women are not used to this in real life since we can lack directness face to face.

NP. There is some truth to this, but I don't think OP is talking about the comments that are direct and kind, but just disagreeing or seeing things another way. A lot of posters on here think they are "telling the truth" but are doing it in such a spiteful, mean way. Often you can tell that what is actually happening is that they are offended or defensive about some aspect of what is being asked or discussed, and lashing out to protect their egos.

You see this often in the parenting threads, and in relationships. Many posters are quick to jump all over the OP and it is not done in a direct and kind way. It's done with meanness.

I mean, if you ask a friend who is going through a rough time her thoughts on the $35 cancellation fee you had to pay to your hair dresser, she might not respond kindly because watching her mom die of cancer is a much bigger problem.

When you ask questions on an anonymous forum, you are opening yourself up to responses from all sorts of people, including trolls who just want to pick/cause fights.

Sarcasm is do people who lack the imagination of real humor. You’re the one who needs to “keep up” - but you probably don’t understand that and are just mean and think it’s funny - like farting is funny to my 4 year old
