True, but, Fairfax is running out of buildable land and the County is still projecting significant population increases over the next 25 years. |
Fair point. And who knows, there could be another baby boom depending on future conditions. |
Well birth rates are rising now. |
No, not really, but they could. |
If everyone in the county had triplets then we’d need the schools built! |
Now that would be total nightmare fuel. |
that can't be true. |
Its not. |
It is true. Birth rates are up from the covid years, but they are not yet back to pre-covid levels. So yes, they are by definition rising. |
McNair and Coats are overcapacity by a lot. There are lots of townhomes and apartments near the new silver line stations and more are being built (even on Frying pan road near 28 entrance, so I think the population there will surely grow. |
It will reliev3 Coates. But I only see one more new neighborhood. It's pretty built out except. For that plot around new school. There is still ongoing construction but winding down except for new school area. |
That is a different plot of land designated as the “Silver Line ES.” Do note that McNair had its overcrowding relieved in the form of McNair Upper, previously labeled “Northwest County ES.” The existing McNair building holds grades PreK-2, and the new McNair Upper or “Northwest County ES” holds grades 3-6. This “Westfield ES” sits behind Cub Run Rec Center, in an area receiving little housing development as to the east of the site is essentially a large Business Park, and to the west is more rural type lands with a golf course and the Pleasant Valley Neighborhood. |

They are building townhomes/condos like crazy there. A bunch near the target and cost. The Wegmans has a bunch of new housing. And all along 28.
And yes, the schools are crowded. 29 kids in a class. |
Which Ones? |
Only 29? Our zoned ES in McLean has 33. FCPS staff insist that is "normal" class size. |
