DC applied there for engineering.
We visited and it is currently in their top 5. Cold does not bother them. They like the campus footprint in an urban environment and the easy accessibility to things outside of campus. We (the parents) like that there are 144 restaurants nominated for a James Beard award in the Mpls/St. Paul area for when we come visit. Waiting for UIUC decisions to come out on 1/30. |
Law Enforcement has no respect for the citizens of Minneapolis. |

I had asked my son about it last year. We were already in Minnesota and I suggested a tour but he wasn't interested.
My wife and other son where on campus the year before and liked it. He didn't apply either. I think it is just too far for both of my kids. |
Agreed. They won’t even allow citizens of Minneapolis to run over them with cars. Unbelievable. |
What times. Have we adults ever witnessed and lived through such times? What was it? Vietnam? '92 LA riots? 2024 college campus protests? |
Didn't take long for people to drive this discussion right into the ditch. |
Respect is earned. There is no respect because they are lawless, racist, incompetent, evil thugs. Remember, our government only exists when there is consent of the governed. Minnesotans do not consent. |
No one was running over anyone, stop lying. She was driving about a mile an hour; how do you manage to make it out alive from a Target parking lot without shooting someone in the face. |
As a native Minnesotan, LOL. My mother was cheap and would almost exclusively buy vegetables in a can. I was not a fan. Many of my friends went to the U of MN. They all ended up doing well for themselves. |
Oh wait, sorry was reading too fast, haha. |
Same , DMV Did visit, DD liked it. There are underground tunnels connecting a lot of the campus bldgs. |
Go back to your hole MAGA stupid. No respect for Law Enforcement would be Don the Con pardoning Jan 6th people that literally hurt 141 members of the Capital Police. OP it's a good school. Not sure you need to pay OOS tuition in an economy where no one is going to get jobs good. I would do an instate instead for financial responsiblity. |
+1 |
| Progressive Midwestern city with decent music scene. Urban campus. University of MN and U Wisconsin have reciprocity tuition so sizable number of students from Wisconsin. I've been there in winter and summer and weather has big extremes. Depending on where you live, flight/transportation options may be limited. |
| Used to live in the Twin Cities. MSP is a hub. Super convenient flying into from anywhere. Yes, cold. Like -3 degree Fahrenheit kind of cold in December not counting wind chill, and snow on the ground until late April. But early May to mid September is lovely. UMN is right by Mississippi River across downtown with a chill student body. Strong engineering and relatively easy to get in. Many nice areas around campus including Dinky Town. Also lots of internationals. |
