Answered prayer

I sometimes hear atheists say that there cannot be a God because there are no longer miracles. That if they saw miracles like the ones Jesus performed, then they would believe.

I think there are miracles happening every day — every hour infact. Unexplainable things are happening everywhere.

Unexplained good things also happen to people who haven't prayed and who don't believe in Jesus.

Really? You hear atheists say that they'd believe in miracles if they saw ones like Jesus performed? I know a lot of atheists - probably because I am one - and none of them say anything like that. We don't believe in miracles or in Jesus.

God answers all prayers. OP waited 30 years to see the result of her prayer.

Thank you for posting this OP.

I know this is the internet and anyone can post anything but I seriously experienced what I see as a miracle. If not a miracle, a prayer that was answered. I am still in shock that my prayer was answered and the answer has changed my life. No one needs to believe me, but if you do have faith and need some testimony, it’s this. Don’t give up and don’t think your prayers are not being heard. -op

I think you have a very shallow understanding of God.

Tell us the miracle or it didn’t happen.

I don’t believe god answers prayers like this.

Your belief in god or not is irrelevant to OP's experience.

Indeed such as for my Jewish relatives. Your point is?

Happy for you OP can you give us a little more insight as to what it was? Thank you.

OP is probably unlikely to say more for fear that atheists, or even other believers, will make fun of them or won't be very impressed with the answer to their prayers.

I mean, there are some really cynical efforts to smack down OP's post. Why? If it doesn't resonate with you, go away already. This posting is not for you.

Yes, this reply makes no sense whatsoever.

Nothing in the Bible says that only good things happen to Christians — in fact, a major theme of the Bible is that lots of “bad” things happen to Christians, all the time. Lots of bad things happened to Jesus after all. He suffered so that we can be more like him when we suffer.

It always amazes me.

It’s not like I spend lots of time on the food board trying to convince people not to eat something. It doesn’t matter to me.

If you truly feel that God doesn’t exist — then why waste your time responding to posts here? It should be the most irrelevant thing in your life, especially in a country where there is no official state religion.

Or is it that deep down, the knowledge of God is written on everybody’s heart, exactly like Paul says in Romans 1, and spending hours and hours on an internet message board with all these snarky comments is an attempt to convince yourself otherwise?

Because you all have remarkably shallow religious views that are ultimately destructive
