He was placed on the next day's flight out, and given taxi vouchers. He has a place to stay, so I guess they didn't offer anything else.

He's returning from study abroad. Apparently it was quite chaotic.

Ok. Why are you telling us?

Helicopter couldn't get off the ground because of the wind.

Weather does sometime delay flights and cause inconvenience. Now your DS knows that, if he didn't already.

Your friend is not our concern. OPs son is our concern.

I had this happen years ago. I got stranded I think in Copenhagen on my home to the US. It was a cluster. All of Europe was shutdown for 2-3 days (think CDG, LHR, FRA, all closed from a massive storm the week before Christmas). Anyway, I got two nights in Copenhagen on the airline's dime, was only able to get back to Newark and took Amtrak to DC...it did take all day to get rebooked because everything was so crazy.

CDG airport? Are you insane? How was he not TAKEN?

OP here with an update (about this event that's apparently not interesting to most folks).

So DS finally arrived, a day late... without the suitcase. Air France had promised him it was going to go on his next flight, and nope. It stayed in CDG. He didn't have access to it last night while rebooking his flight, and now hsi suitcase is living its best life somewhere

He spent 2 days in his one set of clothes, that I am now washing.

Well, that was his first airline adventure.

Thx OP. I appreciated your post

The airport was closed.

No flights going in or out weather related.

Calling in or booking online LOL sure when tens of thousands are doing the same.

Find your brain cells people.

OP you are an entitled twat to complain shit happens!

Your kid is an adult and such as should understand weather delays happen and what to do in case of an emergency change.

OP here. I did not help him, he did everything himself. I am very proud of how he navigated everything considering it was his first solo flight, and an international one at that, and he has autism and ADHD, which makes him more liable to misunderstand people or miss things.

Mainly I posted because I can’t believe they made everyone wait in line for 6 hours for free rebooks! This has never happened to me, but then again, I’ve never been caught up in such weather problems.

CDG would be my last choice of places to connect to the US. I've sprinted through that airport too many times.

What do you expect them to do? They have the staff they have and can only do one person at a time.

No they just "made everyone wait in line for 6 hours" to punish them. It had nothing to do with hundreds of thousands of people across a continent all trying to do a time-consuming thing at once.
