Couple found shot to death in Columbus, young kids and dog in home unharmed

Gentrifying area. And we don’t know their financials. Dental school is expensive and she was a SAHM. For all we know there were student loans limiting their finances. We could also make 5e same commentary on the number of well off people who choose to live in more urban areas of DC.

Sadly I’m guessing we will end up with some sort of awful drug-type story that will come out.

Apparently some people are commenting that her ex is a prime suspect

Her ex is a vascular surgeon and the divorce went through in a matter of months, so does not sound too contentious.

The neighborhood they live in is not great and there have been several residential burglaries in the immediate area recently, I think maybe a robbery gone wrong?

Police said no forced entry and no weapon found at the scene. Police already told the family members that they are thinking it is targeted. Kids were asleep when parents were killed. Dog was in the house.

The dad’s body was found in the bedroom, not sure where mom’s body was found.

The perpetrator was likely let into the house by the couple, so it is someone they know. The only other option is home invasion, where perp pretends to be someone else and forces their way in.

It really sounds like the police know who it is and they are trying to tie together the evidence.

I don’t understand why you think they are wealthy? Most dentists his age are in six figure debt.

I can’t stand how most news articles about this had a headline that referred to a “dentist and his wife” being killed. Is this the 1950s?

Reminds me of that family in Richmond, except they killed the kids too (it was daytime though.)

My bet is drug/robbery fueled too barring some further update on a crazy ex or something. But I’m not going to condemn the ex without more info.

She was a SAHM. Once he was identified by profession, it made for an awkward way of identifying her.

Headline should have just been couple killed.

Very traumatic for the 4 year old.

Yes. And for the folks that went to check on them - it sounds like the dentist who Spencer worked for called 911 while other co-workers went to the house. They called 911 twice - once to say they heard the kids and then once to say there was a body. Just awful.

The sad thing is that the cop who went for the initial welfare check, rang the doorbell and walked away. He should have heard the children, he should have peeked in the windows. Thank goodness for those co-workers but how traumatizing. The lazy officer should have done his job.

The police do welfare checks every day, multiple checks. They do look in windows and walk around the house assumimg there is no fence. Maybe the children were quiet when he went and the bodies were upstairs..
Can’t just go busting down doors. People get pissed.

Isn’t a welfare check to make sure they are alive /safe?

How would no answer indicate they are fine?

Thank you.

Progress seems to be slow or nonexistent.

It also doesn't indicate they are not fine. The cops just can't go busting into someone's house because someone is worried they were late for work and didn't answer the phone.
