anyone else have a 25 pound two year old?

DD is almost 3 and she is still under 30 lbs (yet has a huge budda belly)! She eats plenty and is very active so we're not at all concerned.

My dd (now 4) weighed 23 pounds at 2 years (10th percentile). No one was concerned (heck, we were happy that she was FINALLY on the weight charts). Now at 4, she's 31 pounds and in the 25th percentile.

By definition, someone has to be in the lower percentiles. As long as she's staying on her own curve and developing well, no worries.

My DS is about 28 lbs at 26 months, I think he has actually lost weight recently, and about 32 inches maybe? Our biggest problem is finding pants that don't fall off his butt, I posted about this recently, since he can wear 24mo in height but he's about 18mo in waist.

I don't want to seem unfeeling, but I would have been thrilled if my daughter had weighed as much as 25 lbs at two years of age. That's around 50th percentile. Those of us with kids in the 3rd or 5th percentile -- waiting for our kids to break 20 lbs, and still around 25 or 26 lbs at 4 years of age, know what tiny really means.

I have a 26 pound 10 month old! Time to cut back on the lard feedings, I guess.

It's natural to be worried, but if your kid seems healthy, happy - and esp if your ped isn't concerned I don't see a reason for you to be!

Don't worry, OP, as long as your child is following his growth curve.
My son oscillates between the 3rd and 5th percentile for weight! He is rail-thin and on a fattening diet. At 5 years old he can fit into 2T clothing...
He has not been diagnosed with anything, so what can we do except battle on at mealtimes?

DD is 33" and 25.6 pounds at 2 years, 4 months. She's tiny, but perfectly proportionate. Eats regularly and healthfully. I'm barely 5'0" so I'm just happy she's growing taller!!

My daughter has been within a pound of her current weight for an entire year now - she's turning two soon, and she's weighed 30 pounds since a week before her 12-month checkup. Not a small kid, by any means, but I'm not sure it's unusual for kids of this age to get taller without necessarily getting heavier. (I actually feel like my daughter is heavier than most kids her age, just from looking around her daycare class.)

This is my problem too!

DS is 28 pounds at 29 months.

Our pedi hasn't been worried at all yet. Said he looks okay and has tons of energy. DH and I are small so figure DS will be small.

As an aside, what are the US Growth charts based on? The ones that give us the percentages? I'm wondering because I'm always reading how X number of US kids are obese. So, if that's the case, doesn't that skew the curves to being higher?

26 pounds at 2 years and unchanged 3 months later. I actually do not think she is small, she is definitely growing taller, she generally tracks at 50 percentile weight, 50-75 percentile height. She also eats pretty much anything and a lot of it and is extremely active.

At 24 months, 25 pounds is just above the 25th percentile and 26 pounds is just below the 50th percentile. Nothing to be concerned about IMHO.

I wouldn't worry. I have a 5 yr old who has barely cracked 30 lbs. He's tall, slim, very athletic and eats like a horse. Someone has to have a fast metabolism...wish it would have been his mother.

My son has been hovering around 50 lbs for 3 years now. His body is slimming as he is getting taller and the baby weight is dropping. As long as your child feels solid to you, I don't think there's much to worry about.

My advice is, just don't stuff food in your child's mouth every second! My SIL runs around after her 2 yo DD all day with a spoon trying to get her to eat something. She gives her food in the car, carseat, while playing, etc. It is the funniest sight to see but also kind of scary. She keeps harping on how skinny the child is, but my niece is super healthy and happy. She just doesn't love to clean her place. This is a recipe for disaster. As long as the ped isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either.

I have a 25 lb 3.5 year old. Pediatrician isn't worried - says it's just her build.
