This is accurate. A freshman who plays RL or MLS Next B division has a shot. Kids who play NCSL or similar will have a tough time being noticed as my ds' coach pre-sorted kids at tryouts based on their current teams. It would be nice if everyone could get equal consideration but with 100+ boys, they need some way to differentiate. |
its hard to believe you have to be that good just to play jv. |
Believe it. |
Better believe it.
|
| It's really up to the kids to know when try outs are. |
It applies to all positions. My son, who is a goalkeeper, tried out and was turned away. He currently plays on an MLS Next II team, and he attends Walt Whitman High School, which has a very competitive soccer program.
|
Well at that age, parents need to get them to and from tryouts, so. |
It’s true in VA too. We know multiple RL level players who did not make JV. It’s crazy that you have to be playing in a national level league to make some boys high school soccer teams. Is any other sport like that? Basketball maybe? |
| Boys basketball to make JV you have to be playing year round AAU, at the bigger high schools. But its not quite as competitive as soccer because more boys tryout for soccer. |
|
Are you an idiot? It's pretty obvious your child does not play for elite clubs, otherwise you would know it is up to the player to find out try out dates and then tell the parents to figure out rides etc.
It sounds like your child doesn't want to play but it's you who wants them to make the team, maybe this is to make up for your childhood?
|
Wow, forget your meds this morning? |
| My son at 14 did not have social media and would have had no clue how to find out when different soccer clubs were trying out. I guess some people's kids are on instagram 16 hours a day and its their native language. |
The topic was for HS soccer tryouts. No one is talking about 'different soccer clubs'. If your child is interested in playing HS sports and doesn't know when try outs are, then I think there are definitely bigger issues. Maybe if he doesn't have douchbag parents, he would have friends.
|
Um, 15:05 brought up the "elite soccer clubs" her child frequents. Regardless, no need to be a nasty troll. Are you trying to discourage information about tryouts to reduce competition for your mediocre little Larlo? |
| It's worth a shot for anyone with decent skills to try out. Our big HS had kids make JV from NCSL and kids not make it from ECNL National. You never know. |
