I think they probably do between say ages 18 and 35. At some point, the average man slows down though.

In general, yes, with young women being the closest. Women’s sex drives are certainly more fragile within a long term relationship. Outside of a relationship and during dating is when they seem to be their highest. I think excitement and novelty helps while mating in captivity is a death knell.

Generally, the higher the testosterone level in any person, the higher the sex drive. There are a host of other variables, but T level is probably the primary driver.

Sexual desire is typically higher in men than in women, with testosterone (T) thought to account for this difference as well as within-sex variation in desire in both women and men. However, few studies have incorporated both hormonal and social or psychological factors in studies of sexual desire. The present study addressed how three psychological domains (sexual-relational, stress-mood, body-embodiment) were related to links between T and sexual desire in healthy adults and whether dyadic and solitary desire showed associations with T. Participants (n = 196) were recruited as part of the Partnering, Physiology, and Health study, which had 105 men and 91 women who completed questionnaires and provided saliva for cortisol and T assays. T was positively linked to solitary desire in women, with masturbation frequency influencing this link. In contrast, T was negatively correlated with dyadic desire in women, but only when cortisol and perceived social stress were controlled. Replicating past findings, no significant correlations between T and desire in men were apparent, but these analyses showed that the null association remained even when psychological and confound variables were controlled. Men showed higher desire than women, but masturbation frequency rather than T influenced this difference. This is probably more common than people assume. Many of the women I know have higher drives than their husbands. But the husbands would never admit it and always come up with reasons why " today is not a good day". 😆

The role of testosterone in men and sexual function is well studied.

Testosterone is much higher in men (200-1100 in teen males and then 200 - 800 in adult men) compared to <80 in teen females and <40 in adult women). It decreases with age and also can decrease throughout the day.

Testosterone is so much higher in men as it drives fetal development of male internal and external genitals, it drives all pubertal changes in teen boys (height, body and pubic hair, genital changes, increased libido) and it supports health for men throughout adulthood (sperm production, red blood cell production, bone and muscle strength, sex drive, mental health).

In women, less testosterone is produced and most of what is produced is converted to estradiol. If women do not convert well, they end up with PCOS.

Healthy levels of testosterone depend on gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which triggers your pituitary gland to release luteinizing hormone (LH) which travels to th gonads and stimulates the release of testosterone in men and the release of estrogen and progesterone in women.

There is a biological drive for a higher sex drive in men in order to keep the population growing. They can impregnate at any time.
