Thank you! I didn't even know it's that quick of a procedure. I will schedule an appointment and complain so loudly I get a referral. Crazily enough, no doctor has even looked at mine, they just tell me to use Miralax or whatever. And yes, Kaiser is terrible at fixing unpleasant things. |
|
I have the same issue, OP. Mine don't hurt or bleed so i'm just choosing to live with them.
For what it's worth, you can find a specialist for this yourself. I'm not familiar with Kaiser, but is it like an HMO where you HAVE to have a referral? Even if you get a specialist, it's a crap shoot (pun intended) because one told me he could not remove them/band them, but after my colonoscopy, they told me they would take care of them if I wanted. |
There's a proceduce called 'rubber band ligation' that takes one minute for the colorectal surgeon to do. Others might require surgery, which is more complicated but still doable. Kaiser just sent me to a 'general surgeon' who didn't want to do it for risk of complications -- i asked the colorectal surgeon about this, and she said because they are specialists, they can remove them without touching any of the underlying muscle that would then lead to complications; a general surgeon would not have the confidence in their skill to do this. I can't tell you what a relief it was to leave Kaiser and be able to just look up the best, most qualified specialist for various problems my family and I might have. |
| Once they are gone, they are gone. It's a vein. You might get a new one, but likely not unless you are pregnant or strain a lot. |
| Only internal ones can be banded, if they're external the surgery is very painful. You can also get prescription steroid creams to shrink them. |
| You need to see a doctor so you know what is going on. I had similar symptoms and it turned out I had a fissure that kept opening in addition to hemorrhoids. I ended up having a simple surgery ( sphincterotomy) and haven’t had a problem since. Prior I was in constant pain and like you I ate very healthy, am thin, exercised regularly. |
Op here. I didn’t know this. I believe all of mine are external. Who knows though- there could be more inside. They’re grade 3 normally, but some times I cannot push them back in. I have gotten the prescription creams. |
| Not a good look but it's cosmetic |
|
After hemorrhoids shrink, many people after left with skin. Those are skin tags, not hemorrhoids, and it will not go away. You can see a colorectal surgeon to have them removed, but it is very painful. You can have a flare of hemorrhoids on top of that.
Avoid dry toilet paper as wiping a lot. Go talk to a colorectal surgeon |

My friend had surgery for hers after her first or second pregnancy. It was a game changer. This is clearly affecting your quality of life and all sorts of ways and you should ignore the people who are calling it cosmetic 🙄.
You don’t have to live like this. |
Op here. Yes I have the skin too. I’m talking about almost constant thrombosed hemorrhoids that stick out and are purple. They bleed sometimes. I wouldn’t call them cosmetic because I don’t care what they look like (if dh noticed he’s kind enough to never have mentioned it). I’m sick of waddling and the pain. |
I have this as well. I stand to poop. As in I stand there and wait for the urge and then I sit for that one moment and then stand up again. Sitting would make mine pop out even worse. After a BM I take a shower and wash off with the sprayer and a rag. Cleaning up well is important so that I don’t get irritation that would make my roids flare up. On particularly bad days I have to take a sitz bath and soak my sore ass in warm water until the swelling subsides. Then I have to carefully dry off, use some prep H and lay down for the rest of the day so that I don’t cause a flare up. I had a thrombosed roid that I had surgically removed after it would not shrink after weeks of trying. The experience was horrible and included a 4 week recovery but it never came back. I have two or three other smaller ones that are chronic but I am able to manage. I would strongly prefer to not ever have that surgery again. Drs have not bee much of a help. One guy suggested using ice since “cold reduces swelling” but I promise that is not a solution for me. You are not alone. It’s a journey. |
| I would see a specialist if possible. There are other things that could be going on that you can’t see. My husband had a bad flare of hemorrhoids because of his UC and it turned out it wasn’t just hemorrhoids, he also had a fissure and an abscess. He did have the surgical procedure to repair everything but it’s still been a slow healing process and he might need to go back for a revision. FWIW I had hemorrhoids after both of my births and they are still there but not painful other than maybe 1-2 flare ups a year if I get an upset stomach. So I think your case is severe enough to see a specialist if possible. |
| Go see a colorectal surgeon. Purple hemorrhoids are thrombosed and it is not common to have frequent recurrence |
| See a colorectal surgeon. I can recommend Dr. Vivek Patil in Bethesda. |
