Recurrent Hemorrhoids

If you’re in Virginia, Fairfax Colorectal is great. Dr. Katherine Khalifeh is top notch.

A couple of resources for fellow sufferers:

Your Friendly Proctologist — YouTube channel. He has a playlist of 289 videos on hemorrhoids — a ton of info.

Here’s a recent one:

I also found out about Pranicura from his channel — expensive but a jar lasts for ages and much better than Preparation H suppositories for external hemorrhoids and itching. Make sure to read all instructions carefully and follow them.

Op here. I didn’t know this. I believe all of mine are external. Who knows though- there could be more inside. They’re grade 3 normally, but some times I cannot push them back in.

I have gotten the prescription creams.

External is a whole different ballgame. An external skin tag (shrunken hemorrhoid) is NBD but a legit external hemorrhoid is painful. It wouldn’t deter me from removing though.

You don’t have to live like this.

DP here with hemorrhoids and curious what kind of surgery your friend had? Did she have banding or open surgery?

I’ve resisted surgery for years, but these are affecting my quality of life!!!

OP: This method got rid of my many years ago!
I went to so many doctors but the Korean doctor said to do this (2-3X a day with warm water) or went ever you had time.
This will heal it.

You need to eat healthier. More fiber, more whole grains/fresh fruit/veg.

I have these but I figure they’re there to remind me of childbirth and give me anxiety about colon cancer so I get a colonoscopy when it’s time. They also help with self loathing about not drinking enough water.

Well, FYI, I clicked on the YouTube link and the channel’s most popular videos seem to be about how great a””” s”x is and how to prepare so I gave up. Be forewarned.

OP here. Mine go away, that's not the issue. The issue is that they come right back very very quickly.

Then consider yourself lucky because it’s a real PITA to have one that doesn’t shrink back down and that’s when you need surgery. You don’t want that.

I saw a colorectal surgeon and they really won't do the surgery unless things are pretty bad. (External hemorrhoids, not the banding for internal ones which is NBD -- these can cause bright red bleeding which is how you might find out you have these). Recovery is apparently hell. That said, it sounds like it might be worth it for you. As others have said, definitely worth a consultation.

Are you sure you are really getting thrombosed hemorrhoids? Because I've had one and the pain was so intense I could not function. I had Kaiser at the time (shortly after childbirth) and I went to urgent care and they removed the clot for me to relieve the pain, easy peasy.

But regular external hemorrhoids aren't so easy to fix, unfortunately.
