The EO also says department and agency heads shall make exemptions they deem necessary, so that could be anything really. |
So then why don’t they just allow pre COVID telework posture? Instead of pretending that their “hands are tied” by the EO? |
Because they don't want to, and the president doesn't want them to. Obviously. I really wonder about some of the questions asked on here. Even ignoring animosity toward feds, employers don't want employees to have the schedule perks of predictable teleworking, but they do want the employer upside of constant availability and extra hours. This isn't hard to understand. |
I disagree. I think everyone at the sec, or at least the vast majority, except for Atkins, is in favor of a reasonable amount of telework. Pre-covid levels would probably be the middle ground nearly everyone, again except for Atkins, can agree on. This really is just an issue of Atkins being a Trump sycophant who does not care about the long-term strength of the agency. |
Atkins hates telework independent of what Trump/Vought is telling him to do. He is just old and thinks everyone should be in the office every day because thats how he did it. And he doesnt care about what anyone else thinks so we are where we are. |
I agree that they could choose to implement a more telework friendly policy, it is not management’s top priority so they probably won’t implement anything more generous. I think people should be grateful that the SEC has not had threats of RIFs and we haven’t had other flexibilities taken away like AWS, maxi-flex. |
How could you possibly know how long it will take the arbitrator to rule? It could be fast, or it could take forever. |
I obv personally don’t know - this is what the union is reporting. |
I guess I would ask how the union could know. Even if the arbitrator said something at the hearing, it’s all aspirational and who knows how the delay with the shutdown will impact his schedule. |
