Idling in the bus lane outside of school hours

TJ parents are the absolute f$$king worst.

There have been awful accidents at school drop off; these rules exist for a reason. Cars are *not* supposed to block the bus lane. Jfc OP.

I would be embarrassed idling in front of the school. It’s not the right thing to do, sign or not.

If you're going to idle, then you have to actually move for them. That's the point of idling vs parking.

Umm, there is street parking and a parking lot. Please use it and stay out of the bus lane.

Many of us parents idle in that lane and one bus usually just parks behind the last car or on the lane next to it and kids get in and go. A new bus driver on the second bus does not park in the usual spot at the back but flashes the light and parks too close to the last car making us move. If we move forward to the front of the line, he comes all the way to the front behind the last car and again flashes the full beam. Today at drop off after ES kids were gone (around 4pm) there were just 2 of us in that lane. The car in front of me did not move so I couldn't either when he came too close to me and I stayed put. After the kids got off he parked next to me, opened the bus door and said I had to move. I asked him how could I if the car in front of me did not move. He said I should not be idling in the bus lane. He did not bother to tell the other car driver.

By law, are we not allowed to idle in bus lane when the sign does not say it? Is he just being a DB? The other bus driver does not care and just parks in the lane next to the bus lane and goes on his way. We parents have been doing this for 2 years prior and this is the first time someone has been aggressive and flashing lights and coming too close to us.

Omg I can’t believe how entitled you sound right now. The bus driver is doing his job - he is 100% in the right. GTFO of the bus lane. I hope the local cop shows up to write you all a ticket.

But can you actually get a ticket if the sign mentions no parking between 8:15 and 9:30 and cars are idling at 7:15?

Interesting. Do you always try to be the biggest ass possible without breaking the law or is it just this one situation that brings it out in you?

Why do you even WANT to do this?

I don’t think you will get a ticket. However you shouldn’t not do something because it’s a law, you shoujd just try and do the right thing.

OP, get out of the bus lane so children can step from the curb directly onto the bus every day.

The driver is right and hopefully, will get other authorities involved to help move you and your fellow parents along.

Use your common sense. Bus lane signs shouldn't have to explain everything to you. Bus lane means the lane is for the BUS.

The bus comes at 7:15 and you are in the bus lane and you don't see the problem?

Oh wait, are you one of those moms whose kid sits in the bus up until the minute the bus comes? Your precious snowflake can't wait on the curb? Do the right thing, stop being lazy.

Yeah I don’t get it either. Why are you idling in the bus lane? Go idle in the parking lot. Your kid can walk a few more steps.

the signs are obviously for the specific school, they arent going to print new signs that say "oh and also at 7:15 because this year, that's the pick up time from this place for this other magnet school". you're following the letter of the sign, I guess, but think of why the sign is there. it's so the buses can park safely and students can get on or off without having to weave in between cars or worry about cars pulling out and driving off while they are trying to walk towards the bus. it's for your kids safety. right?
so why in god's name are you still doing this?

This, don’t be lazy OP. Don’t make your kid lazy either. Use your brain.

OP here. Since the unanimous vote was for me being an a***, I actually went to the parking lot today and idled there while the other parents were in the bus lane, and my snowflake did walk in the rain.

You all changed one person's attitude towards this for the better.
