What? You were looking some great external validation of "being selected" to the state pool? Sorry to shatter your ego.

What are you even talking about
There were 125 or so kids there for 2014 boys yesterday and only 30 kids made the state pool
Everything in US soccer is pay to play
Sorry your kid didn’t make it

Who are you talking to? You are responding to the wrong person because I pay happily play for scrimmage time.

My kid made it but it was not surprise and I don't consider it a flex. ODP is a step down from league play.

Some do. My kid was hurt for 3 weeks, we got a callback. I know another kid was sick and some kids were at tournaments. But I know a few kids had inconsistent performance and they get 1 final look.

Bonkers how many parents complain when their kids dont make a team
Always an excuse -- its the coach, its pay to play, its too hot, its too cold, my daughter was tired, etc

I know for a fact that not every kid makes it—especially at my dd’s age group (2013,2014). A couple of the girls we know didn’t make it.

The 2013 girls list looks especially weak this year. We are a midsized club that tops out at ECRL and two girls from our NCSL team made it.

The 2014 team is looking strong this year, with many girls coming from Pre-GA and Pre-ECNL.

Pssst…leagues don’t matter that young.

well RL is not generally good. For 2013 VDA Arlington and FVU ECNL have good players. But most are so busy they dont bother with ODP. Only two VDA girls tried out. NVA and SYC GA have some of the best athletes in age group but dont recall any showing up either. If you dont have girls from those top level clubs. Team wont do very well.

pssst yes they do. As those high level teams rosters get locked down pretty quick. And they get more training, better coaching and play more games. Most girls not in those leagues just fall behind. And not many slots open for them. My advice is get on a club that is ECNL or GA as young as possible.

ODP is such a waste of money. For those who are flexing their DC made it to the next round, just remember the higher-level leagues are not allowed to participate in in ODP.

A cursory look at the rosters shows many “higher-level leagues” presumably ECNL GA MLSNext all have kids who are on ODP teams.
So much crying from parents whose DC didn’t make it.
Many “higher-level leagues” kids may not have time, or may play alternate sports in winter, but nobody is “not allowed” to participate in a program designed to find talented players for inclusion in USNT four or five levels down road.

limited numbers of kids from top team participate. (And yea it’s frowned upon, to coaches telling kids not to do it) Otherwise most kids wouldnt be making teams. USNT knows top kids dont participate. ODP is a shell of what it was.

pssst....if you know what to do, you don't rely on a ECNL/GA coach tell you what to do. My daughter ate their lunch at tryouts and went back to playing EDP with boys. She is a 2015 and can walk onto any ECNL/GA club she wants. But, keep doing what you are doing and believing what you are believing. I tried to let you in on the secret.
