ODP District Scrimmages

Anonymous
Can anyone share what to expect at the district scrimmages for ODP? This is our first time attending. Thank you.

They will keep the best 45 kids for the 2014 age groups and the best 36 kids for the older age groups. Mixed scrimmages.

They will say thanks for coming out and let you know the following Monday or Tuesday if you were selected for the state teams.

Did you go today? Or are you going tomorrow for the boys?

First scrimmage today was small sided 6v6 with teams rotating. Second scrimmage was 9v9 or 11v11 depending on how the numbers broke down.

Decisions up early next week.

Thought it was well done as possible.

Some really good girls could not make it out today due to scheduling game conflicts, it will be interesting to see if they get selected although they skipped these scrimmages.

They skipped the scrimmages without communicating and scheduling an alternative time to get evaluated?

dude they were in NC. It’s clear whose mom is talking about their kids. Don’t be dense.

🤔 if they followed the instructions for kids who could not make it, they would not have to wonder. We did not make it today but it is not a mystery where we stand.

The girls who could not make it were invited to first training.

What a useless scrimmage. Every kid who shows up makes it into the state pool, plus there’s a whole bunch of call backs. It’s basically a pay to play situation.

Do the call backs actually get called back? All of them?

Others call this pay to practice

All call backs come to the first state practice and then the coaches decide if they make it.

What? You were looking some great external validation of "being selected" to the state pool? Sorry to shatter your ego.

What are you even talking about
There were 125 or so kids there for 2014 boys yesterday and only 30 kids made the state pool
Everything in US soccer is pay to play
Sorry your kid didn’t make it

Same for the girls in my kid's age group. There were almost 100 in the district pools combined and 44 made it to state pool with 14 on call back. I knew it would be about half because I looked at the numbers from previous years so I wasn't surprised.
