Is Trump losing his grip on MAGA?

Trump doesn’t need MAGA anymore, but JD will if he aspires to higher office.

The Democrats have very narrow opinions, follow their leaders regardless, and ridicule each other for any opinion outside of the mainstream media or current allowed talking points.

MAGA has much more breadth of political views and most are intelligent and capable of forming their own opinions. So you’re mistaking freedom of thought and expression of varying opinions for hatred of Trump. They aren’t the same thing.

Trump doesn’t care about JD.

There's some truth to this in that there's a Republican base that is never, ever going to abandon the Republican party. They aren't voting for Republicans as much as they are voting against Democrats. These people might stay home or protest vote with a write in, but by and large they will excuse anything Trump does because he's a Republican and they want to stop Democrats. Basically, it's the Rush Limbaugh-ification of the GOP.

Time will tell. But many of these people were democrats. While they may not outright vote democratic yet, they can see what’s happening with their grocery bills. And small businesses are getting screwed by the tariffs. And farmers have been hurt by USAID and SNAP cuts and tariffs. It adds up.

I actually don't think they are. It's become a much more half-hearted defense of Trump in general.

Yep. My parents were unfortunately pretty big Trump supporters and are mostly disgusted by him especially due to the economic policies.

This is patently false. The GOP/MAGA is largely comprised of the white upper/middle and trades working class, many who are small business owners. One merely needs to look at the professions of many people caught up in J6 to know this. The Democrats are a much more heterogeneous group, including Blacks, white college educated professionals, and many, but not all, POC. What the heck - just look at Trump's EO signings v Biden bill signings and see who is gathered behind him. There is no way Dems would convene a working group on women's health and not have women at the table.

If you have examples demonstrating the breadth of political views under MAGA, please feel free to share them here in order to substantiate your claims.

Kind of amazing to see them wake up from the koolaid induced slumber!

MTG is the wrestling heel that nobody could ever imagine turning to the side of good, and yet here we are.

Trump may have tomorrow left or another 15+ years in office if he can game the system and his health, while poor, continues, but it is not clear that the rest of Team Trump will stand by. Hegseth, Noem, and Vance are all shooting B roll to use in '28 campaign ads, often on the government dime. Trump Jr and Ivanka probably also have aspirations - one's (lack of) breadth/dept of intellect +/or nonexistent moral compass have not been a barrier to date.

There is too much money to be made and none of them are prepared to stand by for the sake of the nation.

TBH, the jury is still out for me. Believe she has always been an ops and she may be acting that way now to pave way for Vance with her as veep.
