Yes, the package is contingent on Telsa's market cap by the 2030s, but this isn't reassuring, the implications are even worse. It's based on Musk's plan to develop autonomous robots, taking jobs and ultimately becoming his own private robot army. This is no joke.

And here they wonder how Mamdani won, and how Gen Z approves of socialism more than capitalism, and why people like Luigi Mangione are celebrated, and why teens are sharing guillotine memes.

Would it be okay if it were the head of a private equity firm or private corporation? Not defending the exorbitant amount but I don't see all this anger and handwringing about other such people who are bigger scumbags than Elon, and those people also fund or otherwise lend technical assistance to foreign armies that commit war crimes.

There are bigger scumbags than Elon that have that kind of influence?

Can you name one?

Title should read "Us Government Funded Company approves $1 Trillion Pay Package for Elon Musk, Who Fired Thousands of People"

I have zero problem with this pay package. Tesla is a corporation and can pay its CEO whatever it wants. In this case, the $1T figure is based on company performance metrics. If Musk hits those metrics, the company - and its millions of shareholders - will be doing very well. Those shareholders include retail investors, mutual funds, and pension funds, all of which benefit tens of millions of people in the U.S. and around the globe. Those people will enjoy the enhanced value of their investment in Tesla, and the Federal/State governments to which Tesla pays taxes will also benefit.

What folks here seem to have a problem with is that you don't think Musk is worth that kind of money, and in fact, nobody is worth that kind of money. Musk is worth whatever Tesla will pay him and that he will accept, just like you are with your employer. Likewise, Musk is free to spend his money on whatever he wants, just like you are with your money.

Completely revolting. And scary since he wants to create a robot army.

Did these rich guys watch the Terminator movies and think they were documentaries?

The issue is the board is not focused on shareholders but actually beholden to Musk. Read up on their bios and connection to Musk.

They should understand most of his wealth is tied up in Tesla stock; he is already dependent on it doing well, this only makes him have even more influence on the board.

Yes. But he will also make a lot of other people rich as well. As the PP said, many people who are in index funds have Tesla stock. This includes pensions, governments, etc. Musk doesn't "win" by himself.

^One of the big problems right now is that there are only 7 stocks that are increasing the value of the stock market. Tesla is one of them.
