I picked up a wallet with driver's license, credit cards and cash

Mail it. How is this not the most obvious, immediate answer?

The overreactions of people on here calling people racist…smh

OP here. I went to the house. It was empty and neighbors do not know the person lives there. I left a note with my number for the person to contact me.

I am in NOVA, the address is in Silver Spring, MD. The guy is hispanic, I don't want to get him into any trouble with ICE!!!!

Do you assume all Hispanics are illegally here?

No, the US govt assumes that. This poster knows that. Idiot.

Not the OP, but the obvious answer to the bolded is "no but many ICE agents do"

If you have an address, why not just pitch it in their mailbox?

Wtf! That is so racist of you!

No, I am not racist. I just don't want to get anyone into any unnecessary trouble involving the police. The house is 30 min away and I will face traffic and I still need to go to the office to work today. I think I will just drive. Hopefully someone is in the house to take the wallet.

Guy could have been a victim of a crime. Definitely don't get the police involved.

Maybe.

Or you can return it at a nearby store if there was one. 👍🏽

How much cash? Just curios. I’d be tempted!

From a personal safety standpoint, it's best not to go to someone's house these days since everyone has ring cameras and is suspicious of everyone. Once I lost my wallet and someone mailed it, I was grateful. I'd do that, with no return address.

It is not. It’s realistic. And not wanting to cause a situation for the guy. Shut up.

He won’t get into trouble. Good grief. I work in a police station and we get wallets turned in all the time. We do our best to get them back to owner or we hook them at the stations for them to pick up. We aren’t doing background checks.

The USPS doesn't allow mail without a return address. This isn't Mayberry.
