So poorly written that I quit reading. Turned into Blah.....blah blah blah..blah really quick. |
I was t-boned in Fairfax County in 2012. The other driver (very young male to be specific) drove right through a stop sign and hit me as I was turning at a 3 way stop. The police were right behind me (because it happened right near the jail in Fairfax). Police stopped, but told me that my car did not suffer enough damage to give a ticket! Mind you, the car had to be towed because it was that damaged. My insurance company was livid and asked me to get the officer's badge number. Fortunately I had an accident report with his number on it. I don't know exactly how it all turned out, but my insurance company took it from there. The other driver said the cop could not contact his mother because she "is deaf" and he was going to volunteer at his church.

With your attitude you are lucky you didn’t get arrested. And your daughter is lucky to walk away from the crash. Being tired at work is not an excuse to plow into another car. |
| I drove by a fender bender the other day, police were there. Idk further details except it was gone went I went by again 30 minutes later. |
So, in summary, your daughter was irresponsible and rear ended someone. And she was 100% at fault. |
Wow. Just coming back to say that being tired is no excuse to not stop and exchange info with the person that you hit. Honestly, if the girl that rear ended me had just pulled over and talked to me, I might not have called the cops to issue a ticket. But driving away after getting into an accident amplifies everything. As for the rest of your diatribe, I bet you and your daughter get into a lot of problems because of your refusal to take ownership of your own mistakes. Anyway, back to the thread at hand: cops should and do show up to issue tickets when you get into accidents in the area. |
| Just about every fender bender I see has police there. I know many pull off the road and you never see them but I'm talking the typical rear ender. |
Virginia is not a no-fault state. OP's experience is no longer unusual. In fact, I see much less traffic enforcement in NoVA outside of the incorporated towns (Vienna, Herndon) or cities (Alexandria, Manassas). VA State Police handle the interstate highways. They seem more likely to show up. |

I got into a fender bender in Fairfax County last year, and the FFX police came out, issued a ticket to the other driver, and wrote a police report, which I then sent to the insurance company. It was very clearly the other driver's fault, maybe that was the difference?

I was in a fender bender in Fairfax County about a year ago. Other driver was clearly at fault, turned left into me as I drove through the intersection.
We pulled over to exchange information. I wasn't going to call the cops as the other driver admitted fault right away, and the damage to both cars made it obvious that they ran into the side of my car. But a cop passed by while we were there and pulled over to talk to us. Ended up taking both of our statements, and issued the other driver a ticket for failure to yield. |
