| I mean, can’t all ISAAGNY preschool directors do the same thing (call and inquire)? I just don’t see why TT kindergartens would want so many kids from only a handful of preschools. |
There are different levels of coaching (reviewing and editing the application, preparing for the interview, list of target schools, etc...). There is an art to finding the right fit for each child. |
I see. So if you aren't at a connected preschool and want to optimize your chances, this kind of coaching would come from a hired consultant? |
Because those preschools have already done some of the vetting for them. Those relationships go back decades, and the TT ongoings trust the feeder preschools to be straight with them about applicant families. |

PSDs are hired and evaluated in part based on exmissions. That is the word used for getting the kids into K.
All is not lost: your PSD can even turn a rejection into an admission with support. Usually a wait list is a rejection, just worded so it goes down more easily. But, yes, consult the PSD. |

Yah but the disadvantage of these “feeders” is they end up competing with one another. I’m at a down the road home based daycare that didn’t really save us much considering it’s close to 40k/yr.
Anyway, I also had no feedback from playgroup for 3s. Kiddo didn’t want to engage with any of the teachers. Just kept wanting to leave and threw a temper tantrum. I was so embarrassed I contemplated leaving. Longest 30minutes ever! I have no doubt we will not be getting admission there. |
In our playgroup, some of the kids could not separate with the parents in the room. I felt like maybe it would have worked better if the parents were just outside of the room and out of sight. |
We are at a connected preschool too but our PSD said she won't know feedback from any schools until after December... Wondering why such big difference.. |
Exactly! I think they assume it would help separation anxiety. Moving forward I’ll have nanny do those because it was just not helpful having me in the room. |
I felt siblings had a big advantage as many were familiar with the building and staff. |
are you saying your child was observed amongst siblings? I would have thought they put siblings in the same play group together |
No, more of an extrapolation based on my observation during tours, play group, etc.... |
The playgroups also seemed to have a wide range of ages. Like old 2s and young 2s mixed together. |
HM policy is they do not give any feedback to consultants or PDs. Expect to hear nothing until February re: HM |
