I guess you missed out on a few developmental steps in high school. Most people go through this with a rock band or movie star. Then they learn to drive a car. It's still cute, though. Dreamers and doers. {chuckle} |
Dreamers & doers vs whiners, takers & public servants. Game on. |
Yes, the public is fickle and will vote out whatever power is in when the shit doesn't flush the first time. |
I'm sorry. Who exactly are the whiners? It seems to mr the squeals come from your party these days. |

Obama lied....the economy died. |
Ok, buddy. Time to adjust your meds. Maybe you can talk about this in group therapy before basket weaving. |
I'll grant that Obama used overly rosy predictions in trying to get his proposals through, but that hardly caused the near-fatal stroke the economy suffered before he took office. And if the recovery has been slow, the absolute refusal of Republicans to cooperate is as credible a cause as Obama's policy choices. For example, the biggest problem in the latest job figures is the loss of state jobs, which might have been helped if Republicans had not adamantly opposed further stimulus money. I would bet that the majority of Americans are like me -- not suffering significantly, and aware of problems in the economy mostly by way of the news. Those really suffering, like the unemployed (as opposed to the well-off, who fear the loss of part of the Bush tax cut), might aim their anger at the GOP if they analyze the situation. BTW, note that I said "part of the Bush tax cut." They will still keep the part coming from their first $250K. In fact, those making $250K or more will still be the recipients of the greatest benefit, compared to letting the planned expiration occur, even if Obama's plan goes through. At least that's my understanding -- correct me if I'm wrong. |
21:23 - RIGHT ON!!! Could not have said it better myself. |
Self-pity. |
Last week unemployment at 9.5; no COLA for Social Security recipients. Yes, Dems are in deep cow manure. |
Why should there be a cost of living increase when costs are clearly not increasing? |

If the Democrats truly wanted to do more stimulus, they could do it. They control both houses. There is no need for them to get any cooperation from the Republicans. How do you think health care passed? They wouldn't do it because they knew that the american people would scream bloody murder. The stimulus money that went to the states only delayed the inevitable. States, unlike the Federal government have to balance their budgets. Since most states are in the hole, because they overspent, now that stimulus money has dried up, they have to get rid of the jobs that they should have 2 years ago. If you truly think that the bad economy won't affect you, wait till your healthcare premiums start going up. The biggest loss of jobs was state jobs but we are not close to creating enough private sector jobs for all the people that want jobs. At this rate, it will be years before we can get people back to work. Unless the government starts removing the uncertainty regarding, taxes, and health care and starts to reduce regulation, you will not have a private sector willing to take chances and start investing. Look at the regulation that will go into affect about having to fill out a 1099 for every purchase your company makes over $600. What do you think that will do to the economy? Many new companies are trying to stay under 50 employees so they are not subjected the health care regulations. Large companies are getting waivers to keep doing what they have (ie McDonalds) We do have a small business and we are scared to death how all this is going to affect us. |
Where do you shop and live because my grocery bill has increased as well as everything else? SS recipients living on fixed incomes also deserve a decent life and if we bailed out the banks and mortgage companies then we should be helping the elderly. |
Have you not heard of the filibuster? Control of the Senate means 60 votes. They got health care through by reconciliation only because a version of it had passed before Kennedy died. Since then they are stymied unless a Republican or two joins them. |
