How to access Lightspeed Parent Portal?

No surprise; she can play and read on the computer when she finishes. We also can't see what mistakes she's making on her tests because they're all submitted digitally. Ugh.

Well now you can call her out on it. Olivia, no YouTube during school.

It's not youtube, it's sanctioned programs like st math, lexia, myon, jsut surfing the net. It's trash.

Also notice that the lightspeed reports don't tell you when the student logs off the website, so there is a series of times when they access different sites, and say the last thing they do is get on myon at 1:20 PM, you can't tell whether they stay on for 10 minutes or 2 hours. There's no end time. Makes it super unhelpful.

Anyone having trouble logging in to the portal? I was able to log in last week. This week it says "invalid email or password". I did a password reset twice, which was sent to my email, but the problem is remains...

Students know how to disable lightspeed, and get on proxy servers so they can get on whatever website they want at school (streaming, social media, online games, etc). The FCPS tech controls are pathetic!! The technology is hurting learning out comers, brain development, and mental health. Parents need to research this. Some weeks, my ES aged kid gets to surf over 100 websites at school.

All the kids rush through work in the afternoon so they can all just log in and tune out, probably so the teacher can web surf too.

Love all the people here complaining about the consequences of their poor parenting. Teach your kids how to make good choices or they won't.

You can block YouTube on school computers in the digital consent page. You can opt-out of any of these ed tech choices. More parents need to opt out abd insist that FCPS uses better technology controls and has more intentional use of technology in the classroom.

Kids are learning less since implanting so much technology into the schools.

You can’t block YouTube for middle school. They still don’t make good choices. Executive control is still not well developed. Sucks that PE of all things requires them to watch YouTube videos and because of that they get addicted to YouTube.

Also lightspeed is broken. It says paused till next morning and it actually only pauses it till 11:59pm.

I did reach out to FCPS but no response.

It is broken and doesn't actually pause. I paused my kid's this morning and came home to see kid happily surfing. I paused again and realized it was broken.

Yeah same here. Thus is unbelievable. FCPS rolls out this cool tech and it doesn’t even work properly!!
