Is your freshman actually eating all their meals in the dining hall? Losing weight?

Mine too at Northwestern. The food is horrid. DC losing weight.
I've started approving DoorDash and Whole Foods runs.

Chicago has good deep dish pizza.

eats every meal in the dining halls. "never eaten better in my life!" (gee, thanks kid). not losing/gaining weight.

Similar experience here. Most days DS actually eats 3 meals/day, which he never did at home (I guess if you have waffles, pancakes, etc. options for breakfast, it helps). He's at a small school and I can tell he's starting to get a little bored with the dining hall options but for the most part it's been great.

Eh, kid still goes to the gym like when he was home/in HS and still plays his sport (intermural) which is sorta equivalent to what he did as Varsity in HS.
And his large meals are unchanged (excpmept it's not home cooking and most likely heavier wuth oil and butter abd preservatives) so I guess breaking even.
Plus, a ton of walking to classes.

My kid who struggles to keep weight on is eating more in college, which is great. He was all excited the other day because he discovered that sour cream is delicious. We’ve been trying to get him to put it on tacos for about 16 years, but somehow now he’s discovered it.

Wait, what happened to the freshman 15?? Are kids not drinking as much beer? Late night pizza runs?

Is this because the TikTok generation is so darn hydrated?? I dont remember ever drinking water outside of the dining hall 🤣

It’s more salads and vegetables than it is fried food, pizza, and burgers.

What kind of college is this?

No this is not real.

University of Florida in the late 1970's early 1980's food was horrible. Still everyone gained freshman fifteen, even though it could be a mile or two between classes to walk or get your car out of the student parking lot.

Food at college has come a long way since then LOL

What planet are you on? Have you not seen the daily TikToks about the food? By college? The kids follow them before deciding where to apply.

My freshman has lost some weight. She is walking a ton every day so I think that is balancing out the alcohol and dining hall

My freshman daughter is losing weight as well. Was pretty healthy and active beforehand, so enhanced walking is not the issue. Kid is definitely skipping lots of meals despite me paying for mandatory meal plan that includes all the cafeterias plus dollar swipes at a few local places. I'm surprised. I was initially worried about potential weight gain due to snacking and drinking...but the weight loss is real and concerning to me.

All these girls skipping meals…I thought mine was the only one. I guess this makes me feel a little bit better?
