| I think a big problem for freshmen is less about the food and more about getting used to eating alone. Some will skip meals if they don't have someone to go to the dining hall with them. I think this somewhat fades as school goes on. |

Wait why are they eating alone? Do kids not eat together anymore at the dining hall?
We used to walk a ton and freshman was still a thing. This weight loss is not something I had thought about… another thing to worry about when DD goes to college next year- she’s already thin. |
Same situation here. She eats almost all meals in the dining hall and doesn’t like the food. |
Mine doesn’t eat alone. Has made a lot of friends. Still has lost weight. |
| Senior DD stayed on a college campus for 5 weeks this summer and 10 pounds. She's on the thin side and struggles to keep her weight up. The food tasted okay but there weren't enough choices in the middle ground of the healthiness spectrum between garden salad/grilled chicken on one end and corn dogs/pizza/meatball subs on the other. They would also run out of things, and the lines for the main dishes were long enough that sometimes she would just give up and go to the salad bar. She ended up buying a minifridge to keep snacks on hand and we threw some $$$ towards Panera via DoorDash, which helped. I know they had minimum staffing since it was summer and were trying to minimize how much food was thrown out with fewer kids around to eat it, but the experience has definitely made her MUCH more aware of how important the food situation is as she's applying to schools. |

| I havent seen my daughter since she left for school. I'll report back after Thanksgiving. |
| I think because drinking isn’t as big among GenZ and the non -dining hall food places aren’t really cheap anymore, the freshmen 15 is no longer a thing. |
