Would you be concerned if your child was a sophomore dating a senior?

As my high schoolers say, if your grades don't touch, neither should you.

If it's a soph boy dating a senior girl, would be a little concerned about him getting hurt.
If it's a soph girl dating a senior boy then no that's normal for fresh/soph girls to date seniors and jr/sir girls to date college age or older.

What? This is so weird.

That's a good one.

Are you under the impression these relationships would end in marriage?

The senior only wants to practice having sex with you so that he is not a virgin at college. LOL.

In the meanwhile, you will torpedo your academic success.

its adorable that you think you can control this

Aahh.. but I controlled it beautifully. And both my kids dated and found good partners in college. And one of my kid is now married to college sweetheart after several years of dating in college and while working.

It is adorable that you think you have no control over your kids when they are living in your house. How can you be so deluded?

Amusing but sad. Young people these days are so pathetically socially inept overall. No wonder many don't date or have bfs/gfs and just lower themselves to rando hookups on tiktok and SC.

My kids are a sophomore and senior and the thought of them dating each others friends is bizarre to me as there is a big maturity gap between those ages. My sophomore is also barely 15 and my senior is turning 18 this month…

However when my senior was a sophomore I might have been ok with her dating a senior who was young for his grade. Bc she’s old for hers and also at that age had already been dating and been through a break up, and just generally more mature in her experiences, while my 15 yo now has been on 2 dates and hasn’t kissed anyone yet. Dating a senior seems like something she couldn’t handle or would be good for her.

Op, the rules that would apply to the couple would be ~ it would look like 2 sophomores dating. Our rules for sophomores. No riding in cars driven by another teenager. No staying out too late. No parties where older students might be.

It gets boring for the senior, and to be honest, they won't put up with it. You're not worth it. It won't be worth it, to them, to date you. in our family, btw, all dates have to come to our house for family dinner - are they willing to do that?

That’s probably not a bad idea. I think it’s kinda odd when these couples get together in high school and are together so long they don’t develop as individuals. My 17 yo knows a few who are on 3-4 years.

Also avoids the messy break up playing out at school . Went through that with mine - so much drama. Honestly it’s been 2 years and it’s still weird and awkward as they have so many mutual friends.

Yes !!!

This is my biggest regret from my high school years. I dated a girl in my same class who destroyed my social maturation process. She was sneaky & unfaithful. I was devoted.

LOL !!!

The girls in my high school were the ones seeking practice (other than the PG athletes at our private school who viewed the girls as a free for all sex fest. Not kidding. Never send your daughter to a school with PGs !)
