Mouth breathing as an insult

Anonymous
It’s ableism. As a liberal with a commitment to disability rights it is horrifying how many liberals are comfortable using words that disparage people with disabilities to insult MAGA and people in the MAGA movement.

To be clear, the right does it too, but they are open about the fact that they do not care about disabled people.

Can you imagine if, in this current climate where women, LGBTQIA+ people, and POC’s are under attack, how you would feel if you heard someone insulting Trump by calling him a c**t, or a f****t, or a n****r? It would feel awful. And get people with cognitive disabilities who are at greater risk from this administration than any of those groups, regularly have to listen to people use low IQ, or mouth breather, or words that have the suffix -tard added to them. Why on Earth would anyone think that is OK?

I have never seen or heard this term used for someone with an actual disability. It's usually an insult for someone acting like a total asho1e. You're reaching wayyyyyyy out there.

I never really got this term. There are so many better, richer synonyms. And even smart, with-it people are usually pulling in air through mouth and nose both. Like when you are talking.

I had bad adenoids as a child, constant congestion and developed the habit of mouth breathing. I am a Mensa member so my IQ isn't that low. But whutevah.

Again, this isn't about people simply breathing through their mouths. You'd think a Mensa member would get that but whutevah.

It’s because mouth breathers have a look to them. They always have an open mouth.
P Diddy is a famous one.

One may safely assume a modern-day mouth-breather has an exceptionally percentage of Neanderthal DNA.

Oh gosh can you imagine how bad his breath is? Do people complain or all they all non-disclosured buttoned up?

Because so many of us were taught to eat and breathe with our mouths closed, so we see it as a mark of civilized society. So, maybe a form of elitism (if not being gross is elitist) that many MAGAs proudly reject.

That said, I have allergies right now and can't help breathing through my mouth sometimes.
