It's a pre-sale lottery for a _chance_ to purchase tickets. While it's open now to join, you also have unil 9/19 to enter, so no rush.

I plan to put in for the US games (all 3 on west coast -- I'll buy an extra ticket then offer a local friend there to join me if they let me crash at their place); and then the games in Philly and NYC (actually NJ) as those are pretty easy to get to from here.

My contact at US Soccer says as soon as that draw is done, hotels in every city will get fully booked, now that German/UK/Brazilian/etc fans know for sure their team will be playing at X city on Y date, and that is also when ticket demand will go up. If you get in now, you could end up with some random teams you don't care about, like Japan vs Costa Rica (both very good teams actually), but it will still be a good atmosphere, and you're likely to actually get tickets. I've been to multiple world cup games before, and FIFA does put on a good show.

Check your summer travel plans against the schedule. The venues and dates are alraedy determined. For example, the week of June 21, there are games in NYC and Philly on 6/22, 6/25, and 6//27. The following weeks, only 2 games in the area: 6/30 in NYC and 7/4 in Philly.

I think you're wrong. I watched the game. US was the better side, just didn't get a result. Anything can happen in 1 game, thats why they get 3 games in the group stage. USA has a fan problem, and you are contributing to that.

I dont know what game you were watching but no way close to the better side. They couldve easily lost 0-5. Unless you are focusing on the 2nd half when korea was up 2-0 and werent really attacking anymore.

ahh, I see now... so, we know all group d games will be west coast, and we know the US is group D... well, in that case, I guess I'm not going to any US world cup games because the tickets aren't going to be cheap, the travel won't be cheap and the US won't be fun to watch. I'd go to Philly, Atlanta, New York, Boston to watch them... but not west coast.

Okay, so that's a little helpful, but I'm still not prepared to shell out $500 to get some tickets for that first Philly game with NO idea if it will be a game worth going to. Buy the ticket and then wait for Trump's little dance recital at the Kennedy Center in December I guess. Eff FIFA man.

We don't know what Group the USA will be in, assuming they make it to the tournament. They might be in "Group D" for qualifying but that doesn't mean they'll be in Group D for the tournament itself -- the tournament groups are seeded with the top ranked teams and then randomly filled in with lottery drawings.

We are the host country and are automatically qualified. Go do your homework before showing your lack of knowledge next time.

PP here. I never said the USA would not be in the tournament. But it's not clear what tournament group they'll be placed in. I don't think being in "Group D" for qualifying means they're automatically in "Group D" for the tournament.

Your built-in anti-US bias is showing. Yes, I watched the game, we kept the ball in their half more.

Um…not sure what to tell you guys. The US is in Group D for the World Cup and their match dates and locations for the group stage are already set. Two games in LA, one game in Seattle. The rest of their group and their opponents for those games won’t be known until the draw in December. Unless you’re calling the group stage “qualifying” and then the knockout rounds “the tournament” for some reason, that’s what’s happening. Mexico is in Group A. Canada is in Group B. We’ll find out where all the other teams will go in December.

True. And tickets will be relatively cheap on resale when this reality hits home summer 2026. Attendance will be better the Club World Cup, but only silightly. Look for similiar ticket drops day of to fill seats and for resellers to recover something from their investments.

Zero chance. Europeans alone can and will fill the stadiums w/ no fear of ICE.
