Going to a Columbia football game is actually a fantastic experience. The team won the Ivy League last year; the dance team is AWESOME (literally, it’s like a Lakers game, tons of extremely talented dancers); and pre-game and post game drinks are in Manhattan. Give it a try. |
Wow. Somebody is really feeling ugly or that they have ugly kids. Confidence and a good sense of humor makes up for a lot of that, you know. There's still hope. |
Zero 0️⃣ interest in that. |
What's ![]() |
No comparison to the big state schools. Better looking and more fun kids. They don't need the pretentiousness of Manhattan to make up for it. |
Uh huh. Says the kid sitting alone in the cafeteria. |
Well as the mother of a Columbia undergraduate who is great looking (6'2 and buff), super smart, having a blast but his education will set him up so that college won't be his peak experience . . . |
That's what I thought too when I was in college at a SLAC. I chose it deliberately because there was no football team (and definitely no Greek system). My own kids chose exactly the opposite - large state schools. We've attended some of their football games, and I have to admit - the atmosphere is electric. There's just no comparison. And they're getting an excellent education to boot, with far more opportunities than my little college could ever have offered. (Neither were interested in going Greek, but the school is only about 20% Greek so they're definitely in the majority.) |
DP. Are you the mom who has described her own son in this unsettling way on other threads? ![]() |
Most of the athletes don't have NIL, go to class, live on campus and are part of campus. Even better are the games which are WAY more fun than a Mets game. You got to tailgates, drink, cheer, sing fight songs, watch half time show and leave early for the parties if you are losing. |
Uh huh. Show my one Ivy grad who DOESN'T forever consider college to be his peak experience and who doesn't find every opportunity he can to let everyone know that that's where he went. And describing your son as "buff" in creepy AF. |
Folks, it's ok -- really -- to admit that there's nothing better without having to get defensive of your own choices. |
+1. It's so gross. |
I guess some people need to believe that the kids at the T20 schools and top LAC's are all miserable, missing out on beer pong etc at frat parties to feel better about themselves and their kids admissions outcomes |
How many times are going to post stuff like this? Please touch grass and heal. |
